Terrible performance. With a win we would have the #3 seed, SD looks like they will win and we will lose. Apparently the playoffs are not terribly important to this team.

This game is just rediculous. There is no reason our defense should be giving up plays like this! I'm so sick of the D this season. If we want to have any hopes of going anywhere in the playoffs, we better get our acts together!

and fast.

eafratitpm3
12-30-2007, 05:53 PM
Then I guess you started following the team in 2004 - the defense was horrible in 1999, 2002, and 2003

Maybe against the pass, have you ever seen a Steeler D get rushed on this bad. It's down right embarrasing. They have no emotion. How can you come into a game against a division rival (4-11 none the less), the week before a playoff game and get it handed to you. I heard Phil Simms say something earlier that finally made some sense. He said this may be a good thing for the Steelers. Coming into Baltimore and getting it handed to them and the loss to Jax a couple of weeks ago if this doesn't make the Steelers an angry football team then it wasn't meant to be.

Let me apologize in advance for the ranting but I'm a very P.O'd fan.

If SD wins, it wouldn't matter if we won or lost this game, we'd still be the #4 seed.

IMO the most important thing about this game today was for our D to step it up and they didn't. It looks like San Diego is going to win so the win wouldn't have mattered anyway. Our D just needed some momentum going into next week. I think they are now more mentally down now then they were before.

Regardless of how much we all hate the Ravens....

I gotta tip my hat to Jon Ogden. He's had a long and successful career, and tonight was about a 99.999% chance of being his last game.

Ogden - I hate you....but you had a great run. I enjoyed watching us compete against you...and beat you on multiple occasions (except for tonight...)

Well, i guess im the only one who will cut slack to a FIRST YEAR HEAD COACH. We are going to the playoffs for gods sake. We were dismal last year, coming off a SB win with a 15 year Head coach. But Tomlin is supposed to be like Noll circa 1978?

Preseason this team was regarded as a 9-7 team by most - winning the division is no minor accomplishment even with the collapse of the Ravens and Bengals

Other than hiring Arians as OC  what has Tomlin done that distresses you as clearly wrong?

Doubtful - are you saying he should not have been hired?

Preseason this team was regarded as a 9-7 team by most - winning the division is no minor accomplishment even with the collapse of the Ravens and Bengals

Other than hiring Arians as OC  what has Tomlin done that distresses you as clearly wrong?

No I'm not saying he shouldn't have been hired and I'm not trying to disrespect him. I know we are in the playoffs and that we won the division. I just feel that he makes bad play calls more often then not and I really dislike the lack of emotion. But I do respect him for helping to turn the team around, I just feel that if he were coaching anywhere else he would not be in this position. Our players are the reason we have gotten this far.

Who wants to bet if that were Ben out there we might've pulled this out?

Oh well, that's our regular season. 10-6 and that's not bad. Even if the Steelers did win, it wouldn't matter. We'd still have to play Jacksonville. San Diego won.

The Defense...what happened to it?

Yes if Ben was out there we might have won but I'd rather him be healthy for next weeks playoff game. But don't knock Batch, I think he did very well for this being his first start of the year.

A common pattern in several losses (Denver, Jets, Jags, today) was the team rallying late - in 3 of those losses (Denver, Jets, today) IMO the team simply came out flat

I do not think a coach can will a team to victory but for whatever reason the team has not been ready to go
you have to admit the 04 and 05 seasons were built upon, and won on, emotion and bravado.

that is clearly not the tomlin way.

"business as usual" and "coming out and playing our game" simply isnt working in these instances.

And we were out of the hunt by Halloween last year with a 15-year veteran SB-winning HC with essentially the same players. 'Nuff said.

Hey I'm not trying to get on anyone's bad side. I was only voicing my opinion. But what do ya say we hold up our glasses and hope for the best come next week?

Your opinion of the talent on this team is higher than many observers - I have issues with the defensive philosophy but IMO the defensive talent (Casey, Troy, LBs other than Harrison) has not played up to its prior years' standards. As for the OL, it was a mess going into the season. As for Ben, Tomlin and (cough cough) Arians deserve some of the credit for his 2007 rebound

But fans can disagree:cheers:
