Worst Playcalls/Officiating Calls of the Game

What are your thoughts on the worst?

I think one of the worst play calls was the 3rd down QB run with 3+ minutes left. I would have liked to have maybe seen it on 2nd down, but on 3rd and 7, you've got to give yourself a much better chance to get a first down. The Jags DL had been getting up field on passing situations all night, so why run into it?

As for officiating, Holmes' catch that was overturned was a good catch. It seemed like there was a ton of holding that was not called, and one particular (Mahan's) was very phantom. They may have gotten the wrong number, but watched that play over and over and did not see any holding. There is holding on almost every play, but when you see a guy's jersey stretched way out, or he gets completely turned around, you've got to throw the flag. That happened to Harrison several times, including the QB draw at the end.

Overall though, it was a hard fought game. We dug ourselves into a hole, got out of it, but became very conservative and played not to lose IMO. I'm looking forward to the draft, FA, and fixing what needs to be fixed. I think it's going to be an interesting offseason.

First, I think the Holmes catch was actually a good call. As I watched the replay of it, you can see the point of the ball hit the ground.

The holding calls kill me. We had that phantom one that called back a 2 pt conversion and then the no-call on gerards 4th and 2 run.

I'm beginning that Roger Good Deal is allowing the officials to play a larger role in the outcome of games rather than have them actually call the game. Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming the officials for our loss on Saturday.

What I'm saying is that officials don't know the rules anymore. They'll call holding on one play but when it's similar in view 2 quarters later they don't see it.

I believe the nucleus of this team will remain in tack and next year we can do better.

While I hope Good Deal actually takes a look at the video tapes to educate the officials in the NFL.

While the officiating quality pisses me off, I have read enough people saying that we got a few calls/non-calls go our way too.

Admittedly, I did not see any "go our way" (I seriously didn't even notice ward face-mask that DB), but I'm sure that's because I was watching the game with black and gold glasses.

Having said that, I'm refraining from becoming a Cryhawk. I'm a Steelers fan. Not a bitch. Our team did make plenty of mistakes. That's what cost us the game.

Ward did grab the corners face mask on the Pass Interference call we got late in the game. That should have been a 15 yard penalty against us. We got away with that one.

It goes both ways on calls. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. We Lost.
