The season for our Steelers is over. We will be sure to debate the pros and cons for weeks to come. It's our duty and obligation as faithful fans to point out the obvious and the less obvious flaws of men who get paid alot more than we do to play and coach the sport that captivates us all equally. :sofunny:

The players go home for a much needed rest and recuperation.........but there's still work to be done.

We can look forward to:

1. Ben's contract negotiations

2. Faneca........will Big Red go or will we face him next year protecting another QB?

3. Coaching changes.........(see pros and cons of 2007 season)

4. And don't forget about the Heinz Field turf contraversy.........Dan Rooney is expected to make a decision about replacing the grass field with a new generation artificial turf.

5. The countdown to Draft Day '08 begins..........and where do the Steelers begin?

It better begin with Offensive Line scouting. If we don't draft an O'lineman of some kind in the 1st round, it might threaten the most angry moment I have ever had during a Steelers draft....when we passed on Jevon Kearse for Troy Edwards.

I'm not expecting another 1974 draft, but I wouldn't mind another 1992 draft that helped mold the early Cowher years.

We still have a good, young core to this group, but we need some beef on both sides of the ball.

I agree with both of you guys.
I think that our offense needs to be rethought and maybe even a new coordinator. Arians done a great job the first half of the season but he didnt have anything new to use after that. I do think that Ben's contract should be 1st priority before anything else.
1. Bens Contract Extension making him the highest paid Steeler ever.
2. Take care of our field or just keep all the other 50 games a year played somewhere else.
3. Get some veteran Offensiveline help, especially at LT.. LG... and Center.
4. We also need to start thinking about a MLB to help out Farrior and eventually replace him. ( Jeremy Lehman.. Illinois 6'3" 243 lbs. )

1. Agree on this, and will surely get done.
2. Hard to believe that they won't keep him around, but that has been said before in Pittsburgh.
3. I remember Brownie fans complaining about Arians, and was reminded last night of why ( I thought about that PepsiMax commercial several times, but especially when we called the consecutive roll outs starting on 1st and goal) , and again by a Brownie fan that he sucked in Cleveland.
4. Stay with the grass, fire the grounds crew...lol
5. OL, but there is an obvious need for an RB IMO, Parker will be hobbling like OJ if he keeps getting 70,000 attempts, man Parker and Marion Barber( hell it might be easier to get Jones away from them) would be a sweet backfield, but after that dream dies, I say get rid of Najeh, draft a speed back, and starting game one, give Russell at least 10 carries a game.

when we passed on Jevon Kearse for Troy Edwards.

Thank God we did. He is a perennial all-star on the injury report.

We haven't had a decent ST's coach since Bobby April left for greener (literally) pastures in Buffalo. Ligashesky needs to take a hike.

I'm not 100% sold on Zierlein being replaced as the OL coach. You can't coach lack of talent. The OL needs shored up for sure - that is the #1 priority, imho. I'd like to see Mahan given a year at his natural guard position to see what he can do - I haven't given up hope in him . . . yet. Obviously, we are going to lose Faneca, so we need to work on re-signing Starks - he played pretty well when moved to LT. Hopefully, Marvel won't suffer any long term problems with his back after his recent surgery.

As I agree that our OL is currently built more for run-blocking, I think we need to acquire a few OLmen either via the draft or FA who can both run and pass block. Now that Arians (and Anderson) have released Ben from his shackles, the Steelers need to give their star QB a wall without leaks so he has the time he needs to see the field and get those passes off instead of running for his life back there.

1. Fire Arians
2. Fire Arians
3. Fire Arians
4. Sign Ben, release Faneca
5. Trade up in the draft and get a monster of a lineman (whoever the best is on the board)

we arent the 49ers here.. we dont need a new OC every year.

the biggest thing we need to do is get ben some protection or we may see him walking the sidelines on crutches after getting hurt.....

1) Get some O-Linemen. Especially Center. Mahan doesn't have it.
2) Sign Ben long term
3) Get some weapons for him
4) Shore up the Defense
5) Cut the dead weight.

Going by recent tradition, the Steelers aren't big spenders in Free Agency and usually go after ONE guy. So if it's that ONE guy they go after, I hope it's Carlos Dansby., or Justin Gage.

marvel has 30. the recent back problem and for the next long season can become very hard.o-line needs a young player.marvel can play the next season but it's not a long term plan,in this draft there are a lot of talented players at tackle.so now the staff decide

He missed almost the entire 2002 season when playing for the Titans.

I look for the Eagles to cut him this season.

I don't say 'fire Arians' I say, let Tomlin have more say in the play calling. That 3 and out that gave Jax the ball with 2:50 left to play were reminiscent of the old Clowns Metcalf up the Middle!

You're certifiable crazy. :sofunny:

Troy got a new contract last summer........Ben has one year left on his rookie contract and will become a free agent if the Steelers don't work something out in the off season. (which is how Pittsburgh typically works) Hopefully, Ben will be wearing black and gold for a long time to come.
