I recommend:

A. Monk
D.Green
R. Grimm
D. Thomas
P. Taglibue

But, I am a little bias since I loved the Redskins as a kid. Carter is good pick based on numbers, but I think he should have to wait a year because of his drug issues in Philly.

I'd pick:

Carter
Green
Thomas (long overdue)
McDaniel

Carter, Green, and Thomas are locks.

A bit biased and I know the hall of fame is pure politics these days, but Dermontti is better than all the O lineman (Guards & tackles) on that finalist list IMHO.
He somewhat redefined the centre postion with his ability to move and block on pulls. The consumate professional and Steeler......
Hopefully he will get his day at some point down the road !

if taglibue doesn't get this its gonna be sad... he should've never retired... goodell is the worst thing to happen to football since josh brown's leg warming pants..

Amen to that. Paul Tagliabue had class, but he was tough. I believe he wouldn't tolerate some of the shenanigans being played around the NFL these days. Beliprick* would have received a much more severe penalty from Tags than what he got from Goodell.

I dunno, HTG - I liked Tagliabue, but he wasn't the firmest disciplinarian either. Look at Ray Lewis as just one example of that. As far as not coming down on ownership, I chalk that up to Goodell knowing what side his bread is buttered on. I doubt Tagliabue would have been any harsher in the "punishment" of Kraft and Co.

IMHO, I feel Dirt and McDaniel are close (McDaniel was as much of a beast as Dirt was), but I definitely think Dirt was a better O-lineman than Kuechenberg, Zimmerman and Grimm. The difference between those three and Dirt? They have SB rings, and Dirt doesn't.

1. Monk
2. McDaniel
3. Guy

No more than three. It's the HoF, not a night club.

We'll just have to agree to disagree here, buddy.

Dawson is deserving of it the way the man played but I think he will make it eventually.

Dawson definitely deserves it. The best center of his generation and there hasn't been a better one in the league since his retirement

Dirt not being in is a travesty. He was the best at his position for his entire career, and he may be one of the classiest off-field guys ever to play the game. He should have been unanimous first ballot.

Dirt not making the cut can be atributed to two things.

Peter King's "Too Many Steelers" argument.
The Rings. The other O-Linemen have them, Dirt doesn't. Damn you Neil O' Donnell.

Yeah, what's up ith that? They have Ray Guy in there instead of an outstanding Offensive Lineman. That makes no sense at all.

I think Dr.Z of SI supports Dawson for the HOF

Craig of Pittsburgh -- "Can you please give me some sort of an explanation as to why Dermontti Dawson is not even on the final HoF list this year?"

Sure, the explanation is that most selectors don't have a clue as to what a center does out there.

Or at least excellent offensive line play.

I wish we could find a center that played even half as well os Dirt Dawson did.

Not to give a detailed account of my personal dealings with the person BUT...

Green is a butt and doesn't deserve the HOF before Monk - not on the same card - AFTER!

I agree. But I am afraid his chances are not very good.

I am kind of miffed that Donnie Shell is no longer considered for HoF. He hsa been inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. When he played, he was one of the best free safeties in the league. I thought if you are one of the best in the league, you end up in HoF. I really wonder how many HoF members(voters) truly understand football.
Also, it's a shame that Art Monk is not in the HoF yet. He is on the final list. I wonder if the voters/jokers can understand Art's contribution to the game.

I think there is actually some "not so many steelers allowed anymore" mentality to the HOF picks. I mean, Terry Bradshaw has often joked about how the Steelers need their own wing, and I wonder if that doesn't get into the craw of some of the voters. With Bettis a sure thing, we already have 19 or is it 20 guys in the Hall, and unless your name is NY that just isn't resonable, regardless of what the players do in their career. Rod Woodsen will also be in the Hall and his stats were built as a Steeler. LC Greenwood should have been named already too.
