Nice to see that not everybody in the sports media is fellating the Golden Boy.

Brady doesn't come up big.

Those three Super Bowl rings cause many league observers to presume Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is the best postseason quarterback of all time. Though he's in the discussion, he entered the 2007 playoffs with only the seventh-highest passer rating in the postseason, based on all quarterbacks with at least 150 attempts. He trails guys such as Jake Delhomme, Ken Anderson and Joe Theismann. And Brady was only fifth among all active quarterbacks with at least 100 attempts, behind signal-callers such as Drew Brees and Ben Roethlisberger.

Still, Brady's 66.4 passer rating on Sunday wasn't his worst performance in the playoffs. A year ago, also against the Chargers, Brady put up a rating of only 57.6.

So the 2007 Patriots advanced to the Super Bowl because of Brady, but also in spite of him. And but for a crack-but-don't-shatter defense and running back Laurence Maroney's second-highest rushing total of the season, the Pats might have matched the 17-0 mark of the 1972 Dolphins -- and not exceeded it.

lies! brady is the best :wink02:

the fact is that if the pats faced a bolts team like the one from 2006 they would have lost this time

the pats always find ways to win, but it's not always because of Brady

how can they use jake delhome as an example... he had one year where he went to the superbowl... that season was his best EVER because steve smith was actuall healtthy and mushin still had speed... it's a joke that he should even be included in the best postseason QBs list...

Way to completely miss the point of the article.

Excellent article....noone wants to look past the ESPN sound bytes, and media hype surrounding this team.

Noone wants to be confused with the "facts" when it comes to Belichick, Brady, or the true historical significance of the 2007 New England Patriots*.

Nice read fansince - thanks! It's good to see a sportswriter who isn't slurping Brady's nads.

No - the 2007 Patriots advanced to the Super Bowl because the bonehead known as Philip Rivers forgot that the Chargers were wearing the white shirts. :dang:

Yep that's right.

And Brady is only in the discussion. He does NOT touch the likes of Joe Montana NOT EVEN Terry Bradshaw.
