BAHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAH ... SCREW YOU BOUCHETTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ben said "taken completely out of context"

"the question I was asked was, "if you could have anything other than what you have RIGHT NOW, what would you ask for?"

even went as far as saying "They acted like I JUST said it, I said it over a month ago to some guy in an interview, and well here in pittsburgh they love the steelers and gotta find somethin to write about, i called hines and we had a laugh about it after"

last thing he said was "have not at all ridden a motorcycle, want to retire a pittsburgh steeler just like marino in miami, kelly, I wanna be the guy here forever.

Oh and he didn't take a shot at cowher, at all, and lemme tell you the opportunity was there. Second question asked was comparing tomlin and cowher. Didn't even mention cowher, just praised tomlin, didnt even have a subtle "well boy it was a lot more fun this year", or anything

I dunno where you are ATL Dan, but you can hop off Bullchettes nuts now, and see that infact, he had nothin else to write about and tryin to stir up some trouble.

He was asked this over a month ago....so that means that Ed was just saving it up for the off-season, knowing full well that Steeler fans would freak out when it hit the paper. I'm glad at least that Ben and Hines were able to laugh it off.

Now I'm back to being ticked off at the media, for manipulating us as much as they do the players. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

BTW, this is off-topic, but if you've never heard Frank Caliendo's Rome impersonation, it's completely hilarious and spot-on. That guy is a freak of nature.

all is well. according to Evil Ed, ben is too busy ripping tall receivers these days:

Even Ben Roethlisberger, who pleaded with the Steelers after the 2004 season to keep Burress, believes his former receiver has flourished with the Giants.

"Nothing against Plax," the Steelers quarterback said recently, "but Plax looks like a different receiver than I ever had here or who was here before I was here."

:stirthepot: nice to know ben is an equal opportunity hater of anybody who catches the ball.

it does seem like 1 simple (probably 10 minute) conversation with ben is being stretched into multiple offseason articles for the local fishwraps.

Keep staying classy - you might consider giving your your homophobic analogies a rest (unless that imagery excites you, in which case whatever floats your boat).

If you want to assume Ben will never spin a quote to put himself in a better light (you think Hines sounded like he was having a big chuckle about this?) I would suggest you consider who really may have a mancrush on someone involved in the Ben-Ed.B.-Hines much ado about nothing.

Ben is not denying the quote - Bouchette's story indicated he made the statement the day before the story ran, not a month ago - believe who you want - since I think Bouchette likes continuing to work at the P-G I know who I will believe in terms of when the statement was made.

How well did Ben play in that Super Bowl? Oh wait, here it is.....

Pittsburgh Passing
C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT
B. Roethlisberger 9/21 123 5.9 0 2

The running game and our defense won us a Super Bowl....Ben just happened to have a beard then.

The guy was in his second year, in his first Super Bowl appearance and the bottomline in my book.......he got the job done. He helped us get ring #5. That's all that matters to me. I'll take rings over stats.

Then again, apparently I hate Ben because I do not agree with him running his mouth. What am I thinking?:coffee:

I'm not gonna give Ben credit for something he is not...at least at this point. You can slobber over Ben all you want. The fact is so many Steeler fans can not be objective when it comes to him. I brought up his performance in the Super Bowl b/c people post things on here like he delivered the win. Has nothing to do with rings over stats. The truth of that matter is that any starting QB in the league could have been playing for us in SB XL and the result would have been the same if not better. Lastly, don't put words in my mouth. Have your facts before you open your mouth. Just because I'm not on Ben's jock, doesn't mean I hate him.

lol, I'm "slobbering" over Ben? Apparently you looked over or missed my comments on the Ward/Roethlisberger situation, but whatever.

Also, I'm not exactly sure where I put words in your mouth. All I stated was that kid was still young at the time and that I would take the win over his stats/how he performed anyday of the week. It was an opinion. I also never said you hated Ben. I'm the one who should get my facts straight....lol.

Anyways, great conversation buddy. :coffee:

I notice that you conveniently left out this stat. Though controversial, it put 6 points on the board.

RUSHING:

Ben Roethlisberger ATT: 7
YDS: 25
TD: 1
LNG: 10

SORRY....MY BAD!!! When I think QB I don't think of rushing. Me not mentioning it had nothing to do with convience. And that so-called TD doesn't change the fact that he played like sh*t.

Yes and no. He played bad when it came to throwing the ball...

BUt he made EXCELLENT choices on the run for the first down at the end of the game... and he CHOSE to do it..

He was able to lead the team even when he played bad. Furthermore, there is a clip of him looking at Cowher and saying, "Don't go conservative now."

Yeah, I think, while Ben did not WIN the game for us, he still HELPED us win the game.

No need to apologize. When I think QB, I think athleticism - as in doing whatever it takes to get your team in the best position to win, be it with the arm, legs, mind or a combination of all three. Ben played just as large a part and contributed just as much as the rest of the team in our 2005 run to XL and in winning that game. He didn't throw the ball particularly well that day and he was the first to acknowledge that fact, but he used his legs and smarts in contributing to the victory. C'mon - give the guy credit where credit is due.
