Jack Lambert, Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, Joe Green, or maybe a more modern day player, like Greg Lloyd, The Bus, Hines Ward ?

Who's yours?

For me, I'd have to say , it's all about Hines Ward for modern day guy..and also Greg Lloyd. Even though Greg has had some post football personal issues, u cant doubt his impact when he was on the field!

Players of the past, it's all about Jack Lambert!!

Mine is still Greg Lloyd. But Hines is moving close.

Jack Lambert or Jack Ham. Lambert's intensity was unmatched.

Current player- Aaron Smith, Great pass rusher, even better against the run

Lambert, Greeene, Bettis, and Ward. They all have the heart and that is what being a real Steeler is all about.

My favorite player would have to be Ben Roethlisberger!! First of all, he's the one that got me started on watching football and becoming a true diehard Steeler fan!! I saw on the news that Ben was our First round draft pick and I heard how good he was in college, so I started watching the Steelers. I watched a few random games before, but nothing like I do now!! What I love about Ben? I love his personality, his great QB skills, his love for his family and God and I just love the person that he is!!

Gotta go with Lambert. There were better players on the 70's teams (even a better LB), but his intensity made him even more feared than Porter is today /sarcasm

Present day Steeler would have to be Ward. He not only blocks better than any other receiver, but he enjoys doing it! That's the true Steeler mindset.

3) Terry Bradshaw - Funny guy and great QB
4) Charlie Batch - Hometown guy with great attitude
5) Casey Hampton - Simply a stud on the D-Line

Jack Ham - the best at his position in the history of the NFL ...

Although Mean Joe is my all-time favorite Steeler (and football player, period), what I remember best about Ham was his enormous football IQ. One of the smartest players I've ever seen when it came to sniffing out plays and then shutting 'em down.

Merril Hoge....when i was a kid i saw him almost single-handedly deffeat the Denver Broncos in the 89 divisional playoff game....he had over 200 yds rushing i believe....a gutsy gutsy effort by a quintessential overacheiver.

Luv his work on ESPN and he made me proud when he waved a terrible towel on national tv during super bowl XL pregame festivities

All time Steeler: Franco Harris... my pre-adolescent crush on him is the reason I started cheering for the Steelers in the first place.

After him, they go in this order:
Past players:
Jerome Bettis
Mean Joe Greene
Lynn Swann
Jack Lambert
Greg Lloyd
Mel Blount
Ron Woodson

Of course there are many others but too many to mention

Current players

Troy Polamalu
Hines Ward
Big Ben
Willie Parker

This has to be the funniest post.

I have been a Steelers fan since 1971. I saw the Steel Curtain go up for the first time. There have been many good players that have great points to them. It would be hard to pick one. I liked Bradshaw's wit and humor, Greene's winning ways, Harris' running abilities. I like Bettis' dance and head shake and Woodson's play. I like Ward's grin, Ben's determination and ability to pull a few tricks out of the bag, and Polamalu's skills on and off the field.

There wasn't much to love in the '80 and 90's.

I just love the Steelers. Can you tell?

The Steelers are like Lays Potato Chips - you can't pick just one!!!!!!!!! There are so many stellar ones: Lambert, Greene, Swann, Ham, Blier, Bradshaw, Harris, Bettis, Ward, Polamalu, Parker. And that is just a glimpse of the list!

Haha, agreed. Since I'm younger, and missed the 70's teams by about 4 years, I have to go with the following:

Dermontti Dawson
Levon Kirkland.

They were both the shiznit. Actually they're still the shiznit...just the retired shiznit. There's also Greg Lloyd. I still have his jersey from when I was 12 or 13...believe it or not, it still fits. There's Kordell Stewart *ducks*. Guys, I was, like, 12. I've got his autographed rookie card, actually. Someone gave theirs to me when he started going downhill and they didn't want it anymore. Said it was worthless, but it isn't to me. Sentimentally, anyway.

There's Jerome, Hines, Ben, Troy, Fast Willie...I think I'll just shut up now.

I would have to say my all-time favorite is Jack Lambert. He played the game with intensity and passion. He gave maximum effort and demanded the same from his teammates. In my mind, Lambert is the poster boy for Steelers football.

I wasnt alive during the 70s so my picks would have to be...Troy, Bettis and Ward (your right, you cant pick one)

after watching replays of older games on NFLN and dvds of the SB's on the 70's my favorites would be Terry, Franco, Lambert and Greene

Performance-wise: Mean Joe Green.

Heart-wise: The Bus

But, as far as:

Personal Hero: Rocky Bleir. You come back from VietNam with half of your heel blown off, Doctors are saying you will barely be able to walk..........and you do what he did?

Like I said, personal Hero (biased, of course, with my Military background). :usa:
