Cardinals release three players

TEMPE, ARIZONA (TICKER) ?The Arizona Cardinals released safety Terrence Holt, offensive tackle Oliver Ross and defensive lineman Chris Cooper on Thursday.

Holt, the younger brother of St. Louis Rams? Pro Bowl wide receiver Torry, started all 16 games at free safety in 2007 and collected 75 tackles. Over 69 games with the Detroit Lions and Cardinals, Holt has posted eight interceptions and four fumble recoveries.

Ross, who missed the 2007 season due to a left triceps injury suffered in training camp, played three seasons for the Cardinals and started in 17 games at tackle after signing as a free agent in 2005.

Cooper appeared in 25 games over the past two seasons for the Cardinals and collected 31 tackles and two sacks. In 76 career contests with the Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers and Cardinals, the 6-5, 280-pound Cooper has collected 132 tackles and 8 1/2 sacks.

Holt is a sound player. I'm surprised they made that move.

Cards are -2.1 million on the salary cap, I would imagine thi is just the beginning of thier cuts/restructering.

hmm, has okobi being cut yet?

in due time...

im also surprised about holt being cut... maybe their getting ready to draft a FS in this year's draft... their gonna have their hands full because as good as adrian wilson is he's nothing without someone play centerfield behind him..

Okobi was cut late last year I believe.

Think Ross would come back to the Steelers. If I recall correctly, he was solid

This season is shaping up to be one of the most interesting Free Agent markets I remember in a long time.

Ross will be 34 shortly after the start of the season. Yes - he was a pretty solid T, but we need to sign someone who is going to be able to play for longer than a year or two.

Get him back for cheap, draft his replacement - sounds like a plan to me

Yeah, having Bolden and Fitzgerld all on one team will do that.
