Anybody know anything about Kendrell Bell? We got Fox, but what's up will Bell? Has he been injured, did he not fit KC's 4-3, is he just washed up? He's been FA since the start but hasn't been signed by anyone yet. Just wondering if he could be had on the cheap. I guess we don't need any more LB's though.

No thanks. If anything, he should pay us to be able to play here. The guy was damaged goods when he left here back in 04. A waste of money in my opinion.

But, if he paid us, that would give us some extra money to sign someone else.

Bell was pretty much a non-force in 2007 after an under-whelming injury riddled several years with the Chiefs.

The Kansas City Star reports Kansas City Chiefs LB Kendrell Bell (groin) was held out of practice again Thursday, May 26 with a groin pull. Head coach Dick Vermeil reiterated that Bell is being held out as a precautionary measure. "We're being supersensitive because he came here in rehab," Vermeil said.

Bell also missed a significant part of the 2004 season with injuries

Kendrell Bell will be remembered for 2001, the Browns playoff game, and an injury riddled career that could have been great.

Unfortunately, I don't see any benefit to bringing him back. He isn't the same player he used to be. I think what we currently have on our roster is better than what he has to offer.

Keep in mind, there are more 3-4 teams now than when Kendrell played for us and no one...as far as we know....has shown any interest in him.

He's seen better days. Whatever team picks him up won't get much out of him.

Bell would be a great pick-up. He didn't perform well in KC due to the 4-3 defense. Bell is not a 4-3 LB. He would probably come fairly cheap and can add some LB depth. Fox is not a guarantee to make the roster either. 1 year deals are not that securing for a player. If we don't look at Bell it would be a great draft then if we drafted Beau Bell out of UNLV. He is a Steelers LB in the making.

He didn't perform well in KC because he couldn't stay healthy long enough to do anything.

It's not so much that Bell is not a 4-3 LB, it's that Bell is not a HEA-LTHY LB. That has been the story of his pro-career basically. Which brings me to my point, why waste the money on a broken product? Even if it's for the minimum, which seems to be the only qualification a player needs to have with some on here, why waste the money? Particulary when we are near the cap roof.

Who's next? Alonzo Jackson? Maybe we can call up Huey Richardson while we are at it?

I think the weakside of a 4-3 is the perfect place for Bell. In that scheme you just chase down plays and be agressive.

In the 3-4 Bell often overplayed and missed the counter or cutback. I think his NFL days are over. Face it.....if you are not good enough to make the Chiefs LB corps, its like not being good enough to be the 3rd string QB for the Falcons.

k. bell was a thumper. i was very proud to see our 2nd round pick be named defensive roty. sucks it turned out for him the way it did.

he will be a fine patriot. (if anyone can squeeze blood out of a turnip, it is them.)

i still have his rookie card i bought off of ebay for 5 bucks from some dude in china. go figure.

BINGO! For about 4 years now.

Probably true....

However, we need training camp cannon fodder dont we? especially if it is going live again this year.

And if he happens to make it through camp and show something, well, thats just better.

I wouldn't have a problem with that. Just bring him in for camp fodder. AND TELL HIM SO.

Let's see if he'll rise to the challenge.

No way, this guy is always injured. Bell must have been raised on potato chips, Mountain Dew, and Twinkies. His bones/muscles/joints are obviously malnourished. :crutches::injured:

Actually, bell had 3 good years with pittsburgh and his best was his 3rd. Kinda fell apart after that though.

Let's see if he'll rise to the challenge.I'm on board with this. We're hurting for OLB depth, no? Why not give a shot in camp, with little/no risk, to a guy who did it so well before, but then was injured and played in a system not fit for him.

The problem with this is, I have this feeling he's going to just be injured yet again. . . and Tomlin wants versatility? Even if Bell regains some of his old form when he steps back into the 3-4, he's pretty much a nobody in the 4-3. . .

Id love to find another Bell style of LBer with his greatness to start off with. Bell was awsome until he went down injury road and fell off the map. He had great skills, but even when slightly back to health it seem he lost the love for the game. What I would love is to have his first few years and not the down.

Boy but what I would not give to have another Greg are a Jack back in uniform with there heart and play and meanness. We have been blessed with so many LBers I wish we could bring back all the greats.

Ask yourself this if you had a choice in 1 LBer that would help us out most this coming year which one would you bring back.

Hey... as long as he can cover on ST's and play backup LB once in a while... I have no prob. giving him a shot.
