NFL Network's Mike Mayock reports that Oregon RB Jonathan Stewart may need surgery on his big toe. The procedure would keep him out four to six months.
Stewart suffered a turf toe injury in November and didn't miss any games. He also ran the forty at the Combine, but performed no shuttle or cone drills. In the meantime, he had MRIs done and doctors recommended he undergo surgery. Individual teams will evaluate whether surgery is required. Expected to be a first-round pick, his stock will fall dramatically with any team who doesn't medically clear him.

Wow. I couldn't imagine a worse time to mess something on your body up. Do you guys think his stock will drop?

of course, surgeries with players is always risky

If this is true, it drops him to the third round at least. If I were an NFL GM, I'd go ahead and cross him off my draft board right now. There are a slew of talented running backs who don't have these injury concerns.

The right message deserves a huge signature.

Yeah....third at best. I saw the guy play in 3 or 4 games this season and I wasn't impressed at all. I thought Slaton from WVU was just as good if not better.

that sucks to see guys lose their spot due to injury

It's part of the risk they run. Hopefully he got his degree in something other than swimming pool management.

The injury isn't his only problem. There's also the question of whether he can be funny without John Oliver.

No way does he drop to the 3rd round! Are you kidding? I bet he doesn't fall out of the 1st! Especially now that it looks as if the Lions will be drafting a RB....

Might be similar to the McGahee scenario where someone who is going to lose a RB to Free agency next season will take a shot at him. I dont see him dropping past the second round if it is a turf toe, however some rumors have it as a fractured foot?

I would be willing to take a chance on him in the second round.

He will be taken in round one.

maybe the steelers draft him late in the first. we have gotten better talent in the draft by taking injured players...remeber heath miller...rated the top tight end prior to his injuries, we picked him up late in the first round. i like stewart he would be an awesome complinentary back to fast willie..

why draft a player whose maximum earning potential will be 4-5 mil/ season when we can get a stud linemen (who are now going for 7-8 mil/ year?)

getting a player whose worth more and playing on a rookie contract for 5 years at 2.5-3 mil/ year is the direction we need to go.

Exactly right...We will go O-line or D-back in the first....The level of D-lineman that we are looking at leads me to believe that we will wait until second day for D-line unles some blue-chip slides.

I have been following Godfrey..the CB out of Iowa...he plays CB or FS...and may be a legit 2nd round pick .

Toe surgery 4-6 months?, that is the Queerest(no offense to homesexuals) move on the planet, it will take 3 months tops to get all the pain out. He will lose money for no good reason, maybe he misses the first game or 2, that is nothing to not draft about.

well look at what a ingrown toe nail did 4 mario williams.. he couldn't play 4 a couple of weeks.. ur big toe gets all the pressure and is very vital.. but i agree is a stupid ass excuse not to draft him
