You don't have to be a fan (which I really wasn't) to know what a true ledgend he was.
Just look at that list of roles.

Charlton Heston will forever be remembered as a legend in the film industry. I had many favorite Heston movies, but my #1 favorite Heston film was Ben Hur - I have it on VHS and still watch it every couple of months. He was strikingly handsome, even in his later years, and I had a huge crush on him growing up - LOL! He also was heavily involved in civil rights and his years of commitment to the NRA, an organization which I fully support, were outstanding. Not only was he a great actor, he was a faithful and loving husband and father, married to Lydia for 64 years, a rarity in Hollywood. RIP, Mr. Heston - you will be sorely missed. :tombstone

Met him about 4 years ago at a book signing, a very gracious man. When my wife told him that we have been together for 36 years, he smiled and said, " Not bad for newly weds."

Couldn't have said it better myself - I remember watching The Ten Commandments every year around Easter, and I always had a big crush on him. He was one helluva man.

I still have my bumper sticker "Charlton Heston is my President" in fact I have two of them unused. Also have the the same movies Ten Commandments and Ben Hur.
I want the "Pry my cold dead fingers from my guns bumper sticker", because they will have to. I wasn't a POW so they could come and take them from me. This is still America or was last I looked.
As Tom Selleck told Rosie O'dumarse "I will give up my guns when the criminals give up theirs."
