Boycott Absolut. This ad, even though it only ran in Mexico, disgusts me.

Yet another reason I hate the media.

Unfortunately, it really isn't all that far off the mark as to the way things actually are. Besides, I don't drink vodka anyway. :yuck:

I rarely drink vodka. I have a bottle here for the occasional screwdriver.

The ad is probably very effective, and mildly amusing. What ticks me off is the ad executive who says Americans "wouldn't get it" because they don't know that much history. (Unless you livei n Texas).

Ucedo, who is from Argentina, said: “Mexicans talk about how the Americans stole their land, so this is their way of reclaiming it. It’s very relevant and the Mexicans will love the idea.”

But he said that were the campaign to run in the United States, it might fall flat.

“Many people aren’t going to understand it here. Americans in the East and the North or in the center of the county -- I don’t know if they know much about the history.

“Probably Americans in Texas and California understand perfectly and I don’t know how they’d take it.”.

As far a a boycott, to each his own, but it doesn't seem that big a deal to me.

the company has apologized for the add. Guess they realize that if Americans boycott their stuff, they may lose millions.

LOL...well, they've got a Steelers fan forum talking about their product. They got what THEY wanted :)

Not quite... I highly doubt I'll ever buy their product again. I have in the past.

that's a stupid ad. I get the idea, but if people really like it to the point they're more attracted to the product they're nuts

boycott absolut, beer's better anyway :beerbang:

Amen from the land of Yeungling!

I love a good Yeungling. They opened a brewery in Tampa and when I was a Stadium Ops Manager, I was privileged to tours, free product, and marketing items (read huge bar-room mirror).

Swedish vodka - good stuff if I may say so myself. When I do drink, which is rare, I like vodka and ask for Stoley's. Goes down very smooth! :alcohol:

I can't tell the difference between Absolut and rubbing alcohol, let alone another brand of vodka. When you order vodka in a nightclub theres about a 50/50 chance you're not getting the premium vodka you're paying for. If you can taste the difference between premium and well vodka you're in the minority.

I say we make a trade. Texas,Calif, and Arizona for Cancun. The welfare burden alone is worth that deal. Talk about opening up some cap space.

Not just the welfare crowd...we get rid of aggies, teasips, and a lot of hippies.
