NEW YORK (AP) ? Matt Stover, the Baltimore Ravens' veteran kicker, has begun a campaign to replace Gene Upshaw as executive director of the NFL Players Association by next March.

Stover's action comes at a time when the union could be heading for critical negotiations with the league on the collective bargaining agreement.

Ok, I'm sorry. I just have this funny picture in my head of Stover back to kick, with Upshaw squatted next to the holder, face toward the goalposts, ready to be kicked in the hiney through the uprights.

:cheer:

Ok, I'm done. :dang:

Upshaw making 24 million over 6 years is completely obsurd for a guy who doesn't even play in the NFL... i think thats more than hartwig got... or do i stand corrected? im not sure... but 4 mil a year for an old man (an ex raider at that) unacceptable

He needed to be removed before this last CBA was agreed upon. He really soured some of the player's attitudes towards his abilties.

I agree with the Stover, the players need a better representative.

the day that he is removed from his duties should be considered a NFL Holiday
