straight from the "no shit, sherlock" files:

WASHINGTON - Democrats plan to push legislation this spring that would force the Iraqi government to spend its own surplus in oil revenues to rebuild the country, sparing U.S. dollars.

Iraq has about $30 billion in surplus funds stored in U.S. banks, according to Levin. :dang:

Iraq is looking at a potential boon in oil revenue this year, possibly as much as $100 billion in 2007 and 2008. Meanwhile, the U.S. military is having to buy its fuel on the open market, :banging: paying on average $3.23 a gallon and spending some $153 million a month in Iraq on fuel alone. :jawdrop:

While Iraq pays for fuel for its own troops, it has relied heavily on U.S. dollars to provide people with basic services, including more than $45 billion for reconstruction.

lemme guess... bush, haliburton, and all the big oil lobbyists are against making the iraqis pay to repair all their own shit.

were in the middle freaking east and cant find freaking gasoline for cheaper than $3.23 a gallon?!?!?!?!?!? :dang:

maybe im naive in how this works, but please dont tell me were buying barrels of crude over there at record prices, shipping it to the US to be refined, and then shipping all that gasoline back to the freaking desert.

perhaps were just buying gas from france, or some other freaking country that dont even support us being there in the 1st place.

meanwhile, oil companies are raking in record profits, and i heard that moron glen beck say we are $54 TRILLION dollars in debt. :banging:

thats $54,000,000,000,000!!!!!

them crazy democrats. what will they think of next?

Hold on, wouldn't that be giving credence to the entire "no blood for oil" chant that the anti-war people, mostly Dems were screaming when the War first started?

So now that it hits their pocket books, or their voters pocket books, they want us to get a cut price on Oil and not pay market value? I don't get it. Its ok to have blood for oil now?

it better be.

at a billion bucks a day (total cost) and $153 mil monthly gas bill, somethings gotta give; especially if we plan on being there for the next "100 years".
