View Full Version : Should the Steelers have cheerleaders?

I really believe that the Steelers' would be better off having the ladies on the sideline than ole' McBeamy...
Time for the Rooney's to get out of the 70's and have some pretty ladies in Black N Gold on the sidelines

Forget about it.

Everybody we need is already in the stands.

Hell NO. If I want to see T & A floppin' around, I can rent a porn video or jump around in my birthday suit in front of a mirror.

Besides, as stlrtruck so correctly states above, there are 75,000 diehard cheerleaders in the stands who don't cost the Steelers a dime!

I'd be for it if it were actual cheerleaders and not a friggin dance team like they all seem to be anyway.

cheerleaders are dancers.. so a dance team and a cheerleader team is the same thing except 4 the pom-poms and the games they go to..

Ah yes, however, where else can you have food, drink, live football....scratch that: live STEELERS football AND T&A floppin' around all at once in the same place????

Actually, I'm kidding. Hard-nosed, blue collar, smash-mouth football teams (a.k.a. The Pittsburgh Steelers :tt02:) don't need bimbo's on the sideline chanting "Gimme an S. Gimme a T......." :cheer:

Now, I'm not opposed to seriously hot and scantly dressed seat attendants. :jammin:

No way. They are completely unnecessary. I hate Steely McBeam, but at least he can visit sick kids in the hospital.
The Steelers need no more inducement to get fans in the stands----we're sold out forever. And there is no need to distract people from the play on the field. These are the only two reasons to have cheerleaders.

Also, there is no need to P.O. the hundreds of thousands of female steelers fans---which is exactly what you'll do if you suddenly start a "steelerettes '08 squad".

No reason for them or a mascot. it has been said many times...

We are the cheerleaders,

the Browns are our mascots.

This goes back to what I stated in another thread...if these are things that people want in one place, there's always the strip club. And I'm sure in Pittsburgh they still put the game on TV on Sundays.

Sorry, but that is not an appropriate response to my post. The key is that I clearly mentioned a LIVE game. Second, some folks don't like strip clubs (like myself). They're okay once every 5 years, but... However, I'd go to every Steelers game if I could.

NO. Because when my team the Steelers breaks the will of the other team, breaks their bones, smashes their skulls and kicks out their teeth...I'd hate to see pretty young ladies splattered with the blood of our enemies.

But that's just me, if you're into the blood covered half naked chick thing...vote yes.

I don't visit strip clubs either but my point was about having the cheerleaders on the field. IF people only want the cheerleaders to see a bunch of T&A in tight uniforms, bouncing around - THEN that would the equivalent of going to a strip club.

Me, I'd rather go to the LIVE Steelers game, watch the 53 men in Black and Gold kick arse and not have cheerleaders on the field. 70,000 of them in the stands is enough.

i wouldn't be suprised if they did give it a chance since they got a mascot 4 last yr.. but ppl(fans) should be focused on the game not the women shaking there asses...

The Steelers should not have any Cheerleaders neither should the Browns. We appear to be the only ones that are there for Football and not T & A. And they want it for families. Watch football people not cheerleaders, you want cheerleader,go to Hooters.

BTW ... if HTG or CB1977 want to jump around neeked in front of a mirror....can we ... errrr ... I watch?

If given an opportunity to have our own cheerleaders, would you want them? If so how would you like them to be: wholesome, trashy, role models, etc? I personally would want them t be different not like the old school cheerleaders. I would want them to be the cheerleaders of the new millinium. Any thoughts??

Wowe; way to paint the question in black and white (or gold)!

If there was a third choice, "cheerleaders instead of Steely", I would have picked that.

It seems that there is only negative opinions about the cheerleaders. NFL cheerleaders do a lot more then shake their A#@ on the field. For instance the Cowboys cheerleaders are the most prolific entertainers for the USO. They go and represent their teams and spend time with our forgotten soldiers and they don't get paid for that. Many of the NFL cheerleaders have volunteered to entertain our troops in war torn areas and with the possiblity of getting in harms way. These girls work hard for their community, spending time with the elderly and children. They dedicate their time to bringing smiles and happiness to others. I believe that you all have old and erroneous conception of the cheerleaders. These are girls that are loved and respected by the squads they represent. If the Steelers had their own, it would not be just to shake the butts, but to go out and be the face and advocates of the mighty Steelers.

But there are plenty of hot women cheering for the Steelers-us female fans-and you don't have to pay us to show the love! :tt03:
Although buying us Steelers stuff for birthdays & holidays never hurts..
And many of us are good representatives of our own communities around the country & even the world by doing right by the people we love, even if they happen to be Browns' fans, & doing positive things for the causes we believe in.

I love the ladies, but I would rather have one with me in the stands throwing her arms around me after ever 1st down, than watch 20 of them on the field just for show.
Any volunteers!

Man, I got to visit Pittsburgh with my girlfriend December 06. Your signature just made me really nostalgic for that trip. My girlfriend wanted me to take a picture of her in front of Heinz Field (she just likes seeing people run far, something Willie Parker was particularly good at that year)...I have a picture of the stairs and the gates at center with her way over to the right. I think she was legitimately upset...maybe we'll go again this December.

[/Thread Hijack]

I don't really care either way, but it'd add similarities to us and the Cowboys...which is bad. I just don't really feel like it'd suit the Steelers attitude -- we're tough, stubborn loners who take our licks and deal out bruises with equally intense fervor, not some sissy team who's there as Sunday entertainment and to make the Rooney's money. I think I can say it with pride, Steelers fans take football way too seriously to care about cheerleaders! :tt03::tt02::tt03:

We don't need cheerleaders. Any girl that wants to be a cheerleader is already in the stands or on the ticket waiting list!!!
