The seven Florida teens accused in the "animalistic attack" filmed for YouTube are to be tried as adults, WFTV.com reported Thursday.

Mercades Nichols, 17, Brittini Hardcastle, 17, and Britney Mayes, 17, face charges of felonious battery, false imprisonment and kidnapping in connection with the attack. Cara Murphy, 16, Kayla Hassell, 15, April Cooper, 14, Zachary Ashley, 17, and Stephen Schumaker, 18, face charges of felonious battery and false imprisonment.

Police said Victoria Lindsay, 16, was attacked on March 30 by six teenage girls when she arrived at a friend's home.

One of the girls struck her on the head several times and then slammed Lindsay's head into a wall, knocking her unconscious, according to an arrest report.

Later, according to a clip of the video that was released by the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the teens can be seen blocking a door and hitting her.

A Polk County judge issued a gag order Wednesday in the case, after parents of some of the teens and Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd appeared on national TV shows discussing the case this week.

Meanwhile, a central Florida couple claim they are being hounded by angry callers who mistakenly think they're connected to the notorious videotaped beating of the girl.

Darlene and Jerry Ashley's phone number was mistakenly posted by a user of the YouTube video-sharing Web site, along with the numbers of the other teens charged in the beating.

Callers think the Lakeland couple are the parents of one of the teen boys involved who has the same last name.

They say they have gotten around 300 angry, abusive calls from all over the country Wednesday.

A judge has ordered most everyone involved with the case to stop talking to the media about it.

why are they blaming myspace and youtube. they werent the ones beating the crap out of your child.. you should be blaming the girls that did it and their parents for not raising them correctly. everyone nowadays is looking to blame someone else for their mistakes.. everyone needs to learn to own up to their mistakes and take the blame instead of putting it on someone or something else.

especially on a freaking web site. :dang: fact is, parents, most times, will always try to find a way to defend their kids, it's just nature.

I'm glad they'll be charged as adults, they deserve it

Come on TMB... You're smart enough to know the answer to that.

How much money is there in suing the girls parents. . . and how much money is there in suing Google and Myspace?

Too many kids think that way. I know as well as anyone being at the age of 16 that not one person is above the law. This girls and the 2 boys have done something beyond ridiculous. Posting stuff like that on Youtube guarantees that you're going to be moving into the ironbar hilton eventually unless you get a jury that is dumber then a ton of bricks.

This group deserves to go to jail.

:iagree: and they should get a heavy dosage of community service if they ever get out as well as get probation. Send them a message now so if they're ever given a second chance, they do not do it again.

i think its funny how the girls thought they could really video tape them beating the girl and posting it on youtube and not getting into trouble.... and then the 1 mom of the beaters said that the girl could of had some wrong in it as well and thats y she got beat.. and the parents of the beaten said that they blame myspcae and youtube..

I think it's idiotic. No one should be that stupid to think they're invincible. Blame it on you tube or Myspace all you want, the parents are still the parents at the end of the day and they're still responsible.

That's good news to me!
Let's see how tough they are when they get locked up with some real tough girls. Personally I hope they all get their asses beat.

Only then do I think will they will truely learn the severity of what they have done.

They definantly should not be blaming myspace and youtube for this. They were more then 100% not doing this stupidity. One thing I have found on the chain letters that state about who get PMsy about myspace along the lines of quit blaming their kids become they become hookers due to myspace. That goes hand in hand with this. Sure it doesn't involve beating anyone with this, but this goes hand in hand with parenting. If kids are not informed of what is right/appropriate and
wrong/inappropriate, there is a chance they will do what is considered wrong/inappropriate.

Also to the parents, blame the kids and tell them to have a sense of taking responsibility. If they confess to the whole thing, the punishments are lighter. There is no way I find that a judge and jury will not convict these kids of what they have done.

If you watch the video, at one point the girl tries to leave the house...another girl stops her, automatic Illegal Detention. Also, 3 of them drove the girl to somewhere else, Kidnapping, then dropped her off and said if you go to the police, we'll beat you worse, Terroristic Threatening.

They should be tried as adults, and the evidence will find them guilty. The ring leader, the one who did the most talking, and beating, should get jail time, the rest will most likely get probation with community service and time served.
