Why do we get the exact same bye week again?

tony hipchest
04-15-2008, 01:12 PM
thats the latest weve had a bye week in years.

4 prime time games plus 4 that will likely be the game of the week. very nice!

nov. 9 - dec 14 looks to be brutal.

EDIT: i didnt see the 1st brown game. that makes 5 in primetime. even nicer. plus the giants game could be a 5th nationally broadcast game of the week.

seems like those w/o sunday ticket or living in the region will still get good steeler exposure.

i've never seen so many 4'oclock and 8'oclock games before. we only play at 1 pm five times this year.

04-15-2008, 01:16 PM
Wow only 5 1:00 games , at the most. I knew that would happen.

Looking at the schedule, it is tough as we already knew it would be. The good news is that we do have a chance at a good start. I could see us going 4-1 going into the bye. Cleveland has to open hosting Dallas, so all is good there. I also could see us sweeping the last three games of the season to end strong. Of course, who knows in the modern NFL, we could all be chasing the undefeated Falcons and Dolphins.

OneForTheToe
04-15-2008, 01:18 PM
I just wanted to add, if you look at those three 1:00 games to close the year, we could end upwith three or less 1:00 games for the whole season.

jjpro11
04-15-2008, 01:19 PM
i kinda wish we wouldnt have cleveland in week 17.. theres a chance that game wont mean anything for either team, and it would take the excitement out of it if one team (us of course) are resting starters for the playoffs.

lilyoder6
04-15-2008, 01:21 PM
yeah i think the nfl knew that most of our games should be televised w/ all the great matchups.. but damn i wish we had a bye in week 8.. but oh well... at least we are getting closer

Another late season game in Baltimore. I hate that. Two Sunday night games on the road against Cleveland and Jacksonville? Ugh. Steelers never do well on Sunday Night.

A very murderous schedule.

Well, if we make the postseason this year, it certainly won't be because we "backed in with a weak schedule." I got extremely tired of hearing that this past season.

Actually according to the Wpial website we caught a break. The championships are the 21st and 22nd of November. Assuming that is the only weekend where the games are at Heinz Field, we caught a break because we play at home on the 16th and 20th, and don't have a home game until Dec. 7th. That should be more than enough time to put drainage in any new sod.:wink02:

I'm glad we got the browns early, time to show who rules the north. but a week 17 game against them, wtf? If either team has nothing to play for they'll most likely rest starters, that's not a nice way to treat a rivalry nfl

ravens, titans, and browns last 3 weeks, those are must win if the team struggles early on

This scheduled sucks!!!! It's not the teams we play, I knew that months ago.. it's those TIMES!!!

Two 1:00 home games???!!!! As a long distance season tix holder this totally blows. You can not get a flight out of Pittsburgh after a 4:15 start. (well you can but you'd be watching the last quarter @ the TGI Friday's in the airport)

This season is going to be an expensive one. I hope JetBlue changes their schedule this fall and adds a later flight.

how the hell do we get the hardest schedule and guess who gets the weakest the PATRIOTS

Well its easy really...let me explain. we play in the AFC North, which means, we play the Browns, Bengals and Ravens twice each.

Pats play in the AFC East, which means they play the Dolphins, Jets and Bills twice each.

There are 6 of the 16 games. Easy to see, according to the previous year's results, we have the tougher 6.

Then we rotate the out of Division, Conference we play against. This year, we draw the AFC South. Well that's the Jags, Titans, Colts and Texans. The Pats draw the AFC West, the Broncos, Raiders, Chargers and Chiefs.

Well, that's easy, there are 4 more that are on paper, harder for us.

Then you rotate an NFC Conference, we get the NFC East this year, Philly, Washington, Dallas and the Giants, Pats get the NFC West, Cards, 49ers, Rams and Seahawks. Obviously, our 4 are tougher on Paper.

Then you get the winners of the division from last year, 1st place schedule stuff. That's why we get the opportunity to play the Chargers and the Pats, and the Pats get to play Us and the Colts.

See, its easy really.

We found out this season that you can't afford to limp into the playoffs. With that in mind, the way the talent in the NFL is distributed these days, it wouldn't be all that shocking to see the Steelers struggle early against some of the "weaker" teams on the schedule and then just roll through that death march. Still, looking at it at the moment, if we did start 6-2, I'd be happy with 5-3 finish - got to keep a winning record in the second half, if only by a small margin. Besides, I think 11-5 takes our division.

steelman 4 ur last game against the browns.. ur were talking bout bengal players... :O

all i care about right now is that we win most of our division games since the afc north is playing the nfc east... and thats a very hard division and our competition hopefully struggle..

OR get embarrassed by them on the other hand.

I like your optimism - but it's mis-placed.

I have a feeling that their schedule won't be the hardest by the end of the year. Things change and the strength of this schedule will as well.

We need to just concentrate on the game at hand. As Bill used to say..."keep things in perspective".

Can anyone tell me how to make out our '08 schedule into my wallpaper for my computer?
This years schedule looks scary theres no doubt, but I think that if the Steelers win the AFC North this year it will truly show how far the youngsters have came along during the season. I look for Big Ben to look to prove something this year, but I dont think that his stats will be as good as last years. I also think that if things dont change along our Oline that he will not make it through the season without injury either.

i don't think the texans is a trap game.. they did go 8-8 last yr and they have some good players... i actually think that the off will be better this yr with bruce in his 2nd yr as OC and the off getting to the likeing of bruce.. get a good wr at number 3... and we can have a very good solid o..

ah yes, the dark ages of our defense headlined by the likes of earl holmes, lee flowers, and chad scott. deon figures anyone?

i predict we shut T.O. down like when he was an eagle and like how we do to chad johnson every year. witten is a different story though.

Kind of how Heap tends to have big games against the Steelers. :banging:

i think witten is a better te than heap.. also the cowboys actually have other threats on off unlike the ravens do.. sure willis is a threat but he can only run..

If we win over 10 games this season we are legitimately good.

nov. 9 - dec 14 looks to be brutal.

Minus the game against the Bungles. :chuckle:

If you really look at the schedule, the Steelers play most of last year's playoff teams at Heinz Field, so that's a bit of an advantage.

I say bring 'em on. If the team can stay healthy this season at the key positions, there isn't a team in that schedule that they can't beat. :tt02:

I was wondering what SF thought about our schedule this year.... We have a very tough year ahead of us...playing the NFC East , not including the Cheatriots,Colts , SD, and of course our own division hated rivals...

My thoughts are we still make the playoffs, but we really have to play great defense, and run the ball to protect Big Ben...

Wow! What a great year its gonna be!

GO STEELERS !!!!!
