So much for the Dorien Bryant experiment. The Steelers replaced him with another KR. This one led the nation with a 31.7 KR average and runs a 4.4. Here's the scoop:

Steelers sign free agent WR Marion
By Scott Brown

Saturday, May 3, 2008

Kevin Marion, a wide receiver from Wake Forest, has signed with the Steelers as an undrafted rookie free agent.

The 5-10, 168-pounder caught 18 passes for 192 yards for the Demon Deacons last season.

A spot became available on the Steelers roster after the team released wide receiver/return specialist Dorien Bryant.

Bryant, who signed with the Steelers last week as an undrafted free agent, did not pass a physical.

31 is great for being at wakeforest but in the nfl its hard to make it like devin hester or jerome mathis i dont think he will turn into anything big

Ummm, Wake Forest is in the ACC, it is not like he was playing in the Sun Belt!

If he doesn't make it, not a big deal since he is a rookie UDFA, but leading the NCAA in return average isn't an insignificant feat.

Hopefully he can at least pass a physical.

He didn't pass a physical. What would make you think he has/had a drug problem?

Because football players don't usually "not pass they physical" because of physical problems, especially when they are fresh out a football program in college. It was either a previously undisclosed injury, or something they found in his blood/urine tests.

Thats inaccurate. They wouldn't say he failed a physical if it was drug problem. Plus the NCAA doesn't madate players to pass physicals. If he has an existing injury or one that the Steelers believe will hinder his progress as a player they won't sign him.

He looked terrible in both the Senior Bowl and the Combine. I wasn't surprised he wasn't drafted. He wouldn't have made the team anyways.

But if he does have a drug issue he wouldn't have been released because he "failed a physical". He would have been released because he has a drug problem.

I agree. I think Bloom has big potential. It will be interesting to see what happens. (It would be nice if he turned out to be the newest Wes Welker!)

I don't know. The winds at Heinz field can really gust. He may just blow away.

Does this mean they signed Moore just to be a third down back. I do not think so!

just practice fodder, need someone to tackle when we practice punt coverage. Move along folks, Moore will be returning kicks for us in the 08 season.
