QB Charlie Batch: Probally won't be resigned, very well may retire.

WR Cedric Wilson: Already been cut.

OT Marvell Smith: If he plays well this year, there will be a good attempt to resign him.

LB Clint Kriewald: Probally won't be resigned.

RB Najeh Davenport: Probally will get cut by the end of TC.

LB James FARRIOR *: Will probally resign with the Steelers. He has stated that he wants to retire a Steeler and is still a solid LBer.

DB Bryant McFadden: He has shown flashes, but that's all he's shown. If he beats out Townsend for the starting CB spot he's more than likley gone in FA.

Restricted

FB Carey Davis: Probally will sign his tender.

OL Willie Colon: Same as above.

DE Ryan McBean: If he shows something this year, he'll be offered a tender.

FS Anthony Madison: Will probally walk.

FS Anthony Smith: Should be offered a tender if he can keep his mouth shut.

OL Jason Capizzi: Will be offered a tender.

OT Jeremy Parquel: Who is this?

TE Jon Dekker: Will probally be offered a tender.

WR Willie Reid: i think he walks.

The only people on this list I think could hurt us by leaving is Farrior and Marvel Smith. The others would only really hurt depth.

I would not be surprized if Willie Reid dosn't make the team this year.

2009 could be a make or break year for us.

I don't think we would resign Farrior. He's been a great player for us, but he's getting older and we tend to get rid of "old" players. Whisenhunt will probably pick him up if he is let go of.

The Cardinals have signed several ex-steelers thats for sure. I wouldnt mind seeing Farrior stay here in Pittsburgh, but with Timmons in the rear view mirror, unless Timmons really doesnt show any promise at all, it would look like the steelers have their replacement for Farrior.
Marvell Smith I dont see the steelers resigning him unless this is just a dissaster season, and I dont really see that happening unless alot of injuries hit alot of our key players. This is very big seasons for FS Anthony Smith and DB Bryant McFadden. If they dont do well this year then its sira-nira. Smith has show a nack for the big hit, but his coverage skills are less than desired. McFadden has had some brite moments and low ones as well, its time for him to make a move and take his chances on making some plays to save his roster spot.

Didnt Farrior sign a 1 year extension around March to give us some cap relief???? As for that list of FA Marvel will be back unless his back totally gives out. You forgot Max Starks and Chris Kemoeatu will be Unrestricted Free Agents along with Trai Essex. Kriewaldt has already been cut from that list.

Having a Leader and Vet in the LB corp wouldn't be a bad thing, even if he starts signing "retire a Steeler" one year deals, he can help bring the younger guys around. Most of our linebackers do end their carreers on other teams, maybe Farrior gets lucky and gets the "bettis" deal. Sign for less and just hang in there for limitied playing time.

Anthony Smith has the skills to make the team and get signed long term, same as McFadden. I like the future of our secondary, at least, like that we have some kid back there that aren't in their late 30s. Plus that kid Gay out of Louisville, we should be competitive in the secondary for a long time.

Hopefully A Smith and B mac have good years this year.
I feel both still have greta potential as young players and would like to see long term deals for them both. However as is life in the NFL we will more than likely loose one of these as a UFA.

Having a Leader and Vet in the LB corp wouldn't be a bad thing, .

I think you will quickly see that next year the 3rd year OLB Lamaar Woodley will become the leader of the LB corps and defense.

I see Farrior not being resigned and instead expecting some return on investment from Timmons and Foote, with younger guys Humpal adding depth.

Marvel Smith might get extended and Colon tendered a 1 year and the follwing year he will either be resigned or Tony Hills will be the starting RT.

Batch, gone and replaced by Dixon.

Carey Davis, hopefully gone by then. There are so many better options at FB in this league.

Nate Washington will either find a better offer in FA or sign to be the #3 WR when Ward retires.

Kemo will get a deal to be the starting LG, or the job will be given to Colon in 2009.

[COLOR="Black"]QB Charlie Batch--I think he's going to retire, but I'd love to keep him another year or two while we develop Dixon. I think he's one of the best backup QBs in the league.
WR Cedric Wilson--already cut na na na na, na na na na hey hey hey goodbye!
OT Marvell Smith--a make or break year for Smith IMO
LB Clint Kriewald--thanks for the memories
RB Najeh Davenport--probably won't make it out of training camp
LB James FARRIOR--let's hope he has another year like 07 and makes this a difficult decision for us!
DB Bryant McFadden--hopefully he can stay healthy, otherwise, don't let the door hit ya.....

Restricted

FB Carey Davis--either him or Russell will be off our roster by the end of camp, either cut or traded
OL Willie Colon--his make or break year
DE Ryan McBean--if he can stay on the field for 16 games we're going to tender him
FS Anthony Madison--gone unless he makes a DRAMATIC improvement
FS Anthony Smith--hopefully he learned his lesson
TE Jon Dekker--unless he comes out of nowhere, he's gone
WR Willie Reid--I hope Baker beats him out of the 4th slot and he's gone after this year

Smith will probably be gone. Look for Kemo or Starks to move to LT.

That will save us some cap room... as well as signing Starks to a longer term contract.

Hasn't Kriewald been gone once already? I don't see him returning.

Farrior may come back on a short vet deal.

B-Mac will have to prove THIS YEAR that he is the man... or we start looking at William Gay, and draft high for a CB.

Colon and smith and maybe McBean are the only sure restricteds to be signed I think.

same exact thing goes for anthony smith...

there is some good depth at DB in next years draft and if either player has a poor season upcoming, i definitely think about using a pick in the secondary...
