Trouble runs in the family!

The little brother of dog abuser Michael Vick, Marcus, was arrested (http://www.dailypress.com/news/dp-now-marcusvick.jn13,0,3805716.story) early this morning in Norfolk, Virginia and charged with DUI.
It gets better!

Marcus, a former football star, could have avoided any troubles had he not been such an idiot.

According to the police report, a uniformed bicycle patrol officer saw Vick and a female passenger sitting in his car having an apparent altercation. When the officer approached and asked Vick for his license, Vick fled the scene at a high rate of speed.

A description of the vehicle was broadcast, and Vick was pulled over a few minutes later.
Idiot!

Perhaps Marcus was afraid of the cops cuz he's got a bit of a history with them?
He's been arrested numerous times and also has various traffic violations.
Get your act together, you're a grown ass man!

Man, I tell ya what, I live in Richmond, Va. and this kid has had everything handed to him on a silver platter since his brother went to VT. And he has done absolutely nothing to parlay that into any kind of career. Even Frank Beemer (sp?) gave him numerous chances to stay with the team. But time after time he continued to screw up. This guy is a complete moron and deserves everything he gets.

Oh and to be completely honest I think trouble runs in the family.

this shouldn't even make the news...he isn't a former football star, he's a thug that threw his life away before it ever got started. He played 1 year if I remember correctly at Va Tech and it wasn't that great a year. He's a never was.

I know a guy who knows a guy that knows the whole family real well.

He confirmed that it most definitely runs in the family.

'll never understand how people who have everything handed to them will continue to throw it all away time and time again. Do these people have a deathwish?

that is the thing.. they didnt have to work hard to get it. it was given to them and they think they are entitled to it and can do whatever they want. its very sad.

I got a lot of kids like that around here. They turn 16 and mommy and daddy buy them a new car. Mommy and daddy buy them the expensive designer clothes, the expensive cell phones, pay all their bills, ect.

Yet these kids badmouth their parents every chance they get and constantly bitch about how bad their lives are.

That's what happens when you aren't allowed to whip YOUR OWN kids azz anymore because it's child abuse! What crap! All they do is disrspect the parents and everybody around them.....:banging:

i still whip my kids. and i have people tell me how well behaved they are when they are in public. and i dare anyone to say something to me about it... i might have to knock them out too..lol.:wink02:. god gave them butts for that. and there is a difference between abuse and discipline...

my parents gave me a car only b/c i had too many extra activities after school. but they made my brothers buy their own cars. and yes my parents paid for my insurance and gave me a place to live and food to eat when i was out of college before i got married. even at 23 i would leave notes on the kitchen table letting my parents know where i was going to be... its called respect and most kids nowadays dont seem to know or have it.

Well, I've never struck my child and we get comments all the time about what a nice kid he is and how well-behaved he is too. We never let him get away with too much when he was little, and let him know he is the child and we are the parents. I've never cared about being his "friend" - I am his mother. But he's always been fairly "easy" - never too much trouble. (He's about to turn 13, so that can all change. Hee.)

We don't have much money, but we do the best we can. I think we're the last family on earth who doesn't have a cell phone. My son wants one pretty badly, and once he's out more on his own, dating and such, we'll probably have to get him one just so we can stay in touch with him. But we'll get one of those pre-paid dealies, with as few "extras" as possible.

I think it does go back to not appreciating what you don't have to work for - that was a very good point, TMB. When everything is given to you, you come to expect life to be easy and to have things given to you forever. And when you have everything you want, life seems rather dull. (Remember that Twilight Zone episode where the guy thought he was in heaven because he was winning for once at a casino? When he won all the time, he discovered he was actually in H*ll - winning all the time isn't any fun.) That is probably why "these kids badmouth their parents every chance they get and constantly bitch about how bad their lives are." Everything is given to them, they don't have to earn it at all. You don't appreciate what is handed to you. Talent probably falls into the same category, for some.

When you are never reprimanded, never told "no", and constantly have excuses given on your behalf, you never feel the need to take responsibility and come to feel you can do whatever you want. A lot of athletes and celebrities fall into this mindset, and good results rarely come from it.

What I remember most about Marcus Vick's playing days is when he stomped on the back of the legs of an opponent with his cleats. Looks like he's picked out the perfect match to be his mate. Somehow this event will probably help her career, and Vick will end up on some z-list celebrity has-been/never-was reality tv show.

Mama Vick must be so proud of her boys.

excellent point. just look at hollywood. how many times can lohan and spears screw up and not actually have to pay for their crimes?

which makes it hard for parents nowadays to teach their children right from wrong b/c they see this hollywood celebrities and athletes get by with a slap on the wrist

Personally, I think Mama Vick is kinda to blame for this. If her sons grew up to be such shady idiots, she must have done something wrong in their raising.

Maybe it's the dad.

One son contracted herpes and is in prison on dogfighting, the other insisted on being a wise guy and is in trouble as well. Both have shown poor ethic on the field as well. Big Brother flipping off the fans, and little brothers' stomp.

or lack of dad? do we know if the dad was around when the boys were growing up? maybe they lacked a father figure and that is why they are the way they are.

I don't know much about either kid's childhood other than the fact they are related to Allen Iverson (yeah, great family tree there!).

It's very possible that their dad was't around (or mise well not have been around) therefore they didn't have a man showing them how to be men.

One thing I have learned in my life is that many males who raised were without a strong male figure in their life (dad, grandpa, uncle, etc.) turn out to be complete pansies or complete goons. There are exceptions, but they seem to be few and far inbetween.

And that goes for all races, not just minorities.

Who knows? But Barry Bonds does share those two "stellar" qualities with the Vicks and Daryl Strawberry.
