Where Are They Now?
DWAYNE D. WOODRUFF
Cornerback
1979-85, 87-89

Resides inPittsburgh, Pennsylvania

What is your current job and what does it entail?
Judge, Court of Common Pleas. I sit in the juvenile section and hear all juvenile cases dealing with delinquency and dependency of kids as well as handling of adoption cases.

What is the fondest memory from your playing career?
Winning Super Bowl XIV. Forming great lasting friendships with my teammates and a few other stories I can’t talk about.

What was your best game?
There were many great games, but the one that I think started it all for me was in my first full year as a starter against the Cincinnati Bengals in overtime when I intercepted Ken Anderson and returned it to the Bengals one-yard line. We took it in on the next play and won the game. That play seemed to jump start a very successful career.

What did you like most about playing for the Steelers?
I like my teammates the most and being around a group of hard workers that believed in what we were doing. But most of all, I loved the Steelers fans, there are no fans like Steelers fans in the world.

Teammate you were closest to during your playing days and why?
Early in my career it had to be Mel Blount. His locker was next to mine and I learned a lot from him. Later in my career it was Rod Woodson. We also played the same position on opposite sides and we would study the opposing teams and wide receivers together.

Do you still keep in touch with former teammates?
Yes, very much. We are close friends for life. We also play a lot of golf outings together where I get to see a lot of guys who live out of town.

Do you still follow the Steelers and if so, how closely?
Yes, I still follow the Steelers. It is and always will be my team. My son John is a big Steelers fan and he keeps me up date with the team and I usually attend most of all the home games.

Judge Woodruff is an awesome man and a class act all the way around.:drink: Before he became a Common Pleas Judge, I was on the other side of many of his cases and had to interact with him - it was always a pleasure and he was one helluva good attorney!

I loved his intensity on the field and his teamer attitude. He's one of many who wore the black 'n gold that you just can't ever forget! :tt02:

A buddy of mine had some interaction with him in law school, liked him a lot. Good old #49, the last piece of the dynasty to go!
