Well, not sure how many of y'all know me, but I've been in and around Steelers Fever for awhile now. (took me a year to actually register)

But anyway, I'm a writer by hobby, and I've recently committed to helping out a new fledgling sports site. (don't tell him I called it that!) I never done sports writing, but it's something I've always wanted to try.

So, I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience in this area, or has any suggestions on what to write for my first article. (must be current sports news/events)

Even just what you like in a good sports article would be nice.

Thanks! Maybe I'll become a writer for the Black & Gold someday. :tt02:

(a man can dream, can't he?)

Um, I did an internship in the sports department of my local newspaper if you want to count that as experience lol

Write about whatever topic interests you most at the moment, odds are the more you're intrigued by the topic, the better the article will be and in turn, the more intrigued the reader will be.

I would just make sure you add some sort of worth-while analysis. Just stating the news, especially on a "fledgling" sports site won't get you many readers. Any kind of fresh ideas you can add will help grab the reader's attention, and as much as most of us loathe rankings and lists, those are always sure to pull in readers and incite discussion.

1) Tell the truth.
2) Tell the truth.
3) Tell the truth.

If you can string sentences together, everything else will take care of itself. Pick a subject that interests you, and tell the truth.

I'm pretty sure I can string at least one sentence together, kind of like this one, but maybe longer, maybe shorter, or at least somewhere in between.

Telling the truth? Can I really say I what I believe to be true about a certain team that resides near Boston? This should be good!
