I wouldn't say he was the greatest ever.

I know he's really good, but I think it was his personality and attitude that made people really like him, but he isn't the greatest.

I personally think Jack Ham and Andy Russell were better 'backers (I know they didn't play middle)

Sorry, but no linebacker was better than Lambert on the Steelers. Don't know where that came from. Jack was the man. Quarterbacks need to wear DRESSES !!!!!!! Lambert is the only one I still remember after all these years. The others were there but Jack was the MAN. Happy Birthday !!!!!!!!!!!!

What are you, on dope? Jack Lambert was FAR AND AWAY the BEST Linebacker to ever wear the Steelers uniform.

Lambert will ALWAYS be mentioned as one of the greatest three Linbackers of all time.

Jack Lambert, Dick Butkus, & Lawrence Taylor (All three have an arguement as to who was greatest)

Honorable mention to Jack Ham...Ray Nitschke....Nick Buoniconti.....and Mike Singletary

Happy Birthday Jack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's actually 56 now. July 8, 1952. And I agree, the greatest MLB in Steelers history. I think Ham was a just as good OLB. Lambert even says that Hamw as the greatest LB he ever saw.

Although I liked Andy Russell, he wasn't nearly the LBer that Lambert was. An argument could be made that Ham was better than Lambert, and I couldn't fault anyone for that opinion. The only question I have about Ham is whether he was as great as he looked, or did Mean Joe and L.C. playing in front of him make him look better than he really was? I'm 50 years old this Sept and in failing health, but I believe I could look All Pro playing behind those two. Ok, that might be an exageration, but I do wonder if Ham could have played at that level had he played behind an average DE and DT?

IMO, Jack Ham was the best we ever had.

I rank our top 5 this way:

1. Ham
2. Lambert
3. Russell
4. Kirkland
5. Lloyd

exactly and the same could be said about Lambert. Could he have been as great behind any other D-line? I say yes...but that argument does exist.
