Well, that's what happens when you get bored, put a hole in the lid of a plastic bottle, and make a whoosh rocket.

I had a good dinner.......

the parking situation sucked worse. The owners dad moved his car up onto the sidewalk so I could park behind the bar. I was parked in Krogers lot and probably would have got towed! (the tow trucks were circling like vultures!) The place was crawling with people going to the UC game and they actually had all our tables getting dinner before the game, but they finally cleared out of the bar by 7:30. The satellite guy did his best. :noidea:

There's never a problem getting a signal for regular season games.

Well - at least you got a good dinner out of the deal. I think I'd go stark raving mad if I couldn't watch our Steelers! :tt02:

Just listened to Tomlin's post-game conference. Overall, he was pleased with the team and didn't dwell on Mendy's fumble or some of the dropped passes. He didn't give any hints as to who could possibly get the ax in the coming days.

Mendenhall is going to be razzed like hell by his teammates.

Jeff Reed for President!

They'll make him carry 2 pigskins around with him over the next 10 days. Poor kid. :chuckle:

Black@Gold Forever32
08-28-2008, 09:45 PM
Exactly. That's why I don't understand why you poked at me for saying that I like Russell. I saw him in TC and like the announcers, I feel the kid has a lot of talent.

Hmmmmmmm - nice long run by Russell. Guess I wasn't too far off, huh? :wink02:

Gary Russell was a very good RB at the University of Minnesota....I think it was 3 or 4 years ago he had 18 touchdowns.....He would have been a 3rd or 4th round pick if he hadn't flunked out of school....So it shouldn't be a shocker if he rips a 23 yard run in a pre-season game against 2nd and 3rd stringers.....I think Russell will make the team again....But at the same time I'm not getting to ahead of myself with Russell...He still has much to prove....

HometownGal
08-28-2008, 09:48 PM
He still has much to prove....

Sure he does. So do a lot of others. I was simply saying that the kid has impressed me and as the announcers stated - has a lot of talent.

P.S. He DID hold onto the ball when he carried it tonight. :chuckle:

No Gary Russell Sucks threads - at least for now. :sofunny:

Which I did backup what the announcers said that he does have talent...You don't score 18 touchdowns playing for a Big 10 school like Minnesota being a bum...lol

I was just basically saying I myself also like and have been impressed with Gary Russell at times....I watched Russell play in college...I'm in the heart of Big 10 country.....But at the same time I keep it in the proper perspective.....He ripped a 23 yard run against 2nd and 3rd stringers....True he had the 2 team Oline in there blocking for him....But I just have to see more from Gary Russell....

Who needs Big Ben to throw TD's? Jeff Reed can kick field goals all freakin' day to beat ya! :chuckle:

Sounds like it was a solid game. Too bad about the A. Harrison injury...but Patrick Bailey? Never heard of him, and he put on a show out there.

I'm hoping Lewis gets a job. Kid has a big heart.

Mendy... :noidea: Why hasn't Willie taught him anything? Nice to see Jerome teachin' the youngster a thing or two.

Hopefully Hartwig pans out...I was kind of thinking Mahan might've been the better choice, and that botched snap only confirmed it. I'm still behind Hartwig, but the man better step it up, or Tomlin might have to make another decision.

No, but if you went to Penn St and were Blair Thomas or Ki-Jana Carter, or went to Wisconsin and were Ron Dayne, or went to Michigan and was Butch Woolfolk......you could be considered a bum......lol

...I was kind of thinking Mahan might've been the better choice, and that botched snap only confirmed it. .

1 botched snap does not make it a bad choice any more than an Ike Taylor dropped INT makes him a bad player.

Based on the first 3 preseason game performances, Hartwig earned the job over Mahan, but Mahan will be there should something happen to Hartwig. But, we should all be careful what we wish for.

I just can't see how we can just keep kicking FGs and win games against New England, Jacksinville, San Diego, Dallas, Guiants just to name a few. Just ask a Charger fan.

If I was #34 I would do what I could to stay clear from #86. I'm sure Hines has someting in store for the rookie out of Illinois.

I can't see how NE will finish better than 6-10 the way they played in preseason. But we all know they will. Relax.

Have the Steelers actually played a regular season game yet?

No?

Then how in the heck can you predict anything based on preseason outcomes? There have been teams who have had undefeated preseasons and stunk out loud during the regular season, and vice-versa. The Steelers were 1-3 in the 2005 preseason. How did that season end again?

Let them play a couple of regular-season games first before you write them off.
