Marion Barber goes over the top for a Cowboys Opening Drive TD. Not good, Cleveland.

Cowboys 7, Browns 0.

I need a clothespin for this game. I hate having to root for the Cryboys, but I have to in this situation.

Less than a half of football and we know 2 things. The Browns still suck, and TO is still an a$$.

Man, the Browns' D had better find a way to get some pressure on Homo, or it's going to be a very, very long day.

I'm sure Ben and the offense are licking their chops right now.

I'm going to call Cleveland "Clevelan" instead.

There is no 'D' in Clevelan.

My brother called me about 10 minutes ago and said to not bother looking at the stats from the Steelers game. He said that game wasn't nearly as close as the stats/score would indicate.

I looked up the stats while talking to him and said...it was a blowout in every sense of the word. He told me it could have been worse.

It's only the first game of the season, but it sure as hell looks much more like the Browns from two years ago than it does from last year.

Freaking D-coordinator needs to draw up some blitzes. Seen way too many 3-man rushes...which won't cut it against Dallas' line.

Hey, and the Browns are still in it. Let's see if the coaching staff's halftime adjustments can even it up.

I hate being impressed with Romo, though. I can't hate his personalty, he's a gamer, but I hate the cryboys.

xfl2001fan
09-07-2008, 04:55 PM
Half-time adjustment has to be to send more people and to tell Braylon to hold on to the damn ball. He's paid to be a professional pass-catcher...do your job.

At least we got pressure on the QB...and the O-PI call against TO...suhweet!

Good call. Hard hit on Romo.

Hmmmmm....let's see here. What did I posit before the season started? Browns not on the same page? DA exposed? HORRIBLE secondary? Peek loss hurts more than Browns fans will say?

Brady by week 5. Steelers win big next week. Browns 8-8.

Yeah, we look pretty much HS-ish. It's terrible on both O and D. Even the pick in the EZ by Wright is at best a band-aid on a terrible performance. We need to score fast and hard on every possession.

Dink and dunk, Dallas doesn't care. WR's dropping passes, CBs that can't keep their hands off of the facemask of significantly larger WRs and minimal pressure on Romo. I am utterly disgusted by this "performance."

Next Sunday can't get here soon enough! After we go 2-0, and considering that we have an automatic win against the Browns at home, we effectively have a 4 game advantage after only two weeks of football.

And seeing the awful stink coming out of Cinci and Baltimore, it's no stretch to see 7 auto wins (2 Cleveland, 2 Baltimore, 2 Cinci and 1 Houston) We just need to win 5-6 of the other 9 game and we're in good shape.

Though I doubt it will happen, if your players go into the next game with the "auto-win" mentality, there's a good chance you'll lose.

09-07-2008, 06:52 PM
I don't play for the Steelers. But I am a student of history, and history clearly shows us that unless Kordell or Can't Graham are QBing the Steelers, we beat Cleveland.

And, yes, it's POSSIBLE that the Steelers could lose some of these games. Some blue ice from a jet could fall on my head and kill me in the next 5 minutes too...neither are very likely though...

Cleveland just looked awful and Dallas looked like Superbowl contenders. Do remember that the Browns started slow last year and preceeded to go 10-6. Although those were different situations weren't they.

I wonder how much all the TV execs regret their decision to book Cleveland on so many nationally televised games this year after watching that team stink it up.

Arizona and Denver maybe, but not the Jets. They made the playoffs before last year.

I agree, it's way too early. And lots of things can happen from now until December. The Steelers could easily blow it next week against the Browns and all of the sudden we're on pace for 6-10 doom and gloom.

It's a long season. One game at a time.

X-

You are a great guy and I have no beef with you, nor for that matter do I have a beef with any Browns fans- its just a game and all in good fun, however....

I do recall all Summer long a few Browns fans making strafing runs into this forum talking about how they would win the whole division. That seems to me to be somewhat of an assumption about the entire season. Not real bright considering the Brownies have beaten the Steelers once in 8 years.

I don't think you were ever part of that though.

xfl2001fan
09-08-2008, 06:57 AM
There were some Browns fans on Browns sites claiming that. I really thought that (coming into this season) that we had a chance to (minimally) split the series with Pittsburgh. Then the preseason games started to get played, and my optimism became more tempered.

Now it's really tempered. There is hope as we do have a lot of playmakers, but our defense needs to be much more aggressive at the point of attack if we have any hope of "gaming" with the Steelers, let alone competing or beating them.

We didn't show up yesterday and I'm disgusted by the "performance" my team gave. I'm not cashing in the season, as there is still a lot of football left to play, but there needs to be a dramatic turn around.

15 of 16 and 9 straight against the Browns is pretty much an auto-win.

I never claim that for any other team in the NFL, just the Browns.

By the way, it's a record. It only took ONE DAY and I already heard someone utter the famous Cleveland phrase "Maybe next year".

Poor bastards.
