I never saw the Browns game, but judging from this video report.

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2008/09/mary_kay_and_tony_recap_a_game.html

Their offense had problems, the defense couldnt stop the run, cover WR's and "didnt seem to know what a Tight End was". The only played 4 teams last season with a winning record and only beat one of them.

Also, it looks like Donte Stallworth is questionable for this sundays game and Josh Cribbs was injured. Gonna be a good one this Sunday.

Yeah I tend to agree...they can't pat themselves on the back anymore.

The Browns think they can challenge us and we need to to beat them back down to reality this weekend.

They usually give the praises the morning after, and then it's straight to the next opponent preparation in the afternoon.

Win or lose, you gotta have a short memory to keep pressing every week. I'm sure Tomlin will have his share of negatives to point out to bring them down a bit.

Hopefully, this one will be another 38-3 beatdown in the 3rd quarter with Ben on the sidelines with a baseball cap watching Leftwich embarass the Clowns!

Key matchups

Big Ben vs. Browns Secondary- Romo had tons of time, and with the lack of pressure, Big Ben will pick them apart.

Steelers LB's vs. Derek Anderson-Woodley and Harrison will free eachother up, Anderson will be running for his life.

Steelers D-front vs. Browns O-line- This battle will probably decide the outcome, or atleast decide on a close game or not. It's the Browns O-line (Often referred to as the best in the business last year) against a strong line and a standout LB core for the Steelers.

Braylon Edwards vs. Steelers Secondary- If Anderson has time, Edwards can make big plays, special emphasis on "if".

We manhandled a crappy Texans team, now its time to start dominating within the division and win our 10th straight over the brownies!

I take no team lightly and I'm not going to start this week. The Browns are going to be up for this one, as they've been embarrassed by the Steelers 9 straight times and are going to be hungry for revenge. I do think the Steelers will win, but it's not going to be a walk in the park like the Texans game.

That being said - I'm still savoring our first W of the season! :tt03:

Funny to see that video piece by the local reporters.......they look and talk as if the sky is falling already in Cleveland.

I said before the season, the Clowns will have a better run defense, but their problem is that teams will throw all over the yard on them. On sunday I was only half right about them.

The Steelers had to put up with "Browns are the team to beat" talk for months. Now the game is here. Cleveland blows, but you know they will get up for this rivalry game with the home crowd on it's side in front of the bright lights. They hate the Steelers. And want to beat them and prove that they have what it takes.

I have the utmost confidence in the world the Steelers are getting ready for the atmosphere they're in and the challenge they're up against. Punch the doggies in the mouth and silence their yapping.

I am normally not one to overlook games, but I am really looking forward to our first real challenge (in my eyes anyway) which is the Philly game. As long as we dont lay an egg on the field or play down to the competition, and judging by how extremely poorly the clowns played their first game this game SHOULD go even better than the Texans. However, maybe the Clowns listened to all the talk and let it get to their heads thinking they would just walk all over ppl by showing up, now after a large dose of reality they may show up and play some.

The Steelers need to come out and do what they did to the Browns last year. Run the ball right down their throats. The Browns spent all that money on Shaun Rogers and he didnt do a thing for the run defense yesterday. If they cant stop the run they will not beat the Steelers. Big Ben went 13-14 yesterday, if the Browns cant stop Fast Willie look for more of the same. Steelers 30 Browns 14.

After seeing the Cowboys dismantle the Brownies, I see no reason why we can't do the same. I don't think we have any less talent than they do.

But it's all about the preparation, which I'm sure Tomlin will take very seriously. It's a division game, with a possible early division lead at stake.

It should be a great game!

Im thinking we'll cover Edwards pretty good....but Winslow finding the soft spots in our zone worries me.

Hopefully Woodley and Silverback don't give Anderson the time to find him.

As always though if we can run the ball it'll be tough to slow us down at all. I know Ben has really grown in the passing game....but Id still rather just run it down their throats Sunday.

Get Nasty Steelers and punch these guys in the face!!

It's a divisional game and we can't take them lightly. It's definitely a necessary win for us, just to give us some space in the division.

My thoughts exactly. Division Game, in Cleveland, Sunday Night TV stage and the Browns have something to prove. They will be ready and the Steelers have to be ready too.

I think it will be a tough game for both teams on the ground, but weak LB and secondary play by the Browns will allow Hines, Holmes, Miller and yes....Nate Washington to have a good day.

Looks like Josh Cribbs will be playing on Sunday. Hopefully our special teams can take care of him.

Anyway we shouldn't take this game lightly, divisional game on the road, and they are gonna have something to prove after being embarrassed by the Cowboys, and I'm sure they have been working on some plays with us in mind. But don;t get me wrong I am very optimistic about this game, especially after last week.

The reason the Browns had a prayer at Heinz last year was because of Cribbs and our horrible Special Teams, which looks to have improved this year. Other than that, Cleveland didn't do crap to win that game. Pittsburgh outgained them 3 to 1 in yardage.

But that was last year. I'm confident the Steelers will be ready for the Stains this time around. If it's one thing Tomlin has done pretty good his rookie year, it's divisional games.

Last week the Browns had the 29th ranked offense and 31st ranked defense

The good news for the browns fans is that there is alot of room for improvement

The bad news is that....you can drop all the way to 32.

Is it really only Tuesday?
This game can't get here fast enough.

I will be very interested to see how the ST plays in this game, as was stated above that is the only way that game in Heinz last year was close.

Personally i think our D when healthy won't (shouldn't) have too much trouble with their O.... and sounds like we are very healthy on D :)

I like to look at what needs to improve:

Passing. 137 Yards, 2 TDs. I would like to see more yards passing for Ben.

Rushing Wilie had 138 Yards, 3 tds. No need for improvement but must be maintained.

Ward, 6 catches 76 yards, 2 tds. Great.

Miller, 3 catches with a 8.7 average. Means the Sticks are moving, I like it.

Holmes, 2 catches for 19 yards. I'd like to see more production from Holmes this week.

Nate Washington. Zero catches. Play Sweed Please. He's a Gamer.

Ben had 2 fumbles. that needs to stop. He recovered one he flubbed under center.

I count 2 sacks for the Texans. At this point, week 1 that's acceptable, but that number must NOT go any higher in a single game.

Our Defense had 5 sacks and 2 interceptions and a fumble recovery. I am happy with that turn out.

Our defense only allowed 75 yards rushing. Great. and only 202 yards passing (not taking away sack yardage) I would like to see that number down even more.

Punt Return, - 3.0. This MUST improve.

Jeff Reed was perfect on PATs and FGs. Good. Very Good.

Punting, 3 with a 43.0 yard average. That's ok, but I'd like to see more out of our Punting unit. Get up there near 48 or so.

We also had 4 penalties as a team. That's too many in a close game. I would like to see no more than 2 a game, but I am happy I didn't see any bullcraplatehit our guys taking cheap shots stupid penalty...penalties.

yards per pass average was 6.8. I'd like that higher especially with Holmes as the deep threat, the kid needs to make more plays. He did have one great play he caught with his finger tips but I'm not sure why he wasn't open more. Go deep Holmes...Go Deep...

Leftwich did not complete a single pass and we did not get a single 1st down with him in the game. I expect more out of my Veteran Back-Up. Thank you.

Johnson also had 10 catches for the Texans last week. If a guy gets more than 6 in a game, I'd like to see more effort put forth to shutting the guy down and jamming him at the line of scrimmage taking away the "go to" guy.

The ONLY thing that scares me about this game is that the Browns, as an organization, are already desperate. They don't know what it means to win, so they have no idea how to handle the pressure and the expectations, and after this shitty start, they've panicked.

But it's the cornered scared desperate animal that's most dangerous, because they might do anything. I expect gadgetry and trickery and every other thing out of the Browns because they know there's no way they can line up mano a mano and win this fight. If they get off a kick return and have a lucky bounce or two (ala last year) and get close, they may KEEP the game close.

I don't expect the Browns to play as poorly in our game, but I'm not worried at all. The league has seemed to figure Anderson out, and Edwards looks to be going back to dropping the ball. If their secondary doesn't play a lot better it could be a blow out.

I agree with both of you. The Browns team that laid an egg last week will not be the team we face Sunday night. I GUARANTEE they have been practicing and studying up and game planning for this game way more than they did for the Dallas game. This will not be an easy win.

I see the Browns being a bit tougher to run against, especially on the inside, but their pass rush and secondary were pathetic against the Cowboys. If the o-line plays as well as they did last week then Ben should be able to throw all over them. I know the Cowboys may very well have the best o-line in the league, but come on, there were multiple occasions that Tony Romo stood still in the pocket for at least eight seconds. Eight seconds! He could have made a sandwich back there. The point is if the Browns can't create pressure on opposing quarterbacks they will not win games, especially against elite QB's like Ben.

barber and jones ran all over them.. houston has a better front 7 than cleveland. the browns have no linebackers outside of wimbley, who is more of a pass rush specialist than anything, unlike guys like farrior or harrison. ben can outrun mcginest for christ sake. maybe it was a fluke game for them, who knows. but we always seem to be able to run the ball on cleveland.

Well, he only played the better part of three quarters, and if they give him the 60+ deep ball to Hines they took away, he would have been over 200 easily.

I think 15-20 attempts per game will be the average, reguardless of the yardage.:noidea:

What was funny to watch was the fact that the Brownies switched to a 3-4 D without the personnel to do it. It showed in a BIG way that they did not have any idea how to run it, put pressure on the QB, stop the run, and cover the field too!!! I think they should leave that up to the big boys, and go back to whatever they were running before ( I think it was called "Oops here is a hole, Oops there is a seam, and oh yeah the endzone is just a few plays away!!!)

How many winning seasons have they had lately? How many AFC North Titles or Playoff appearances? Who did they Beat last year to give them that much respect? Just curious.

I hope we beat them so bad that their fans cry for a month and burn their jerseys out of embarressment.
