I don't think Bama should be #2, they beat an over ranked, over hyped Georgia team. I'd have LSU #2 as defending champs and Alabma at 4 behind Texas. But it'll work itself out that way. Texas/OU/MO will all beat up on each other and only one will remain unbeaten if even that. Just the same as the SEC beats itself up. And this would all be irrelevant if the mighty beavers didn't "shock" the world on Thursday, but they did. I'm a little suprised PSU didn't sneak into the top 5 but we'll see what happens with them as the season moves along. Wisky missed a great chance laying a duck this weekend, otherwise they'd be in the top 5.

yeah sucks for those 3 big 12 teams in the top 5.... some has to play each other and that will drop them..

PSU at #6! That is cool. I believe that Ohio State will somehow find a way to creep back into the National title picture now that Beanie is back. I also see that ECU finally came back down to earth and fell off the map.

I don't have a real problem with any of these rankings since it's so early, but I did notice that OSU won a Big Ten game against a resurgent program in the midst of all these upsets and somehow managed to DROP a spot.

That USC loss will haunt them for awhile...

Yeah. Theyre gonna pay for every slipup this year for all of those NC foul ups the last few.

I'd have LSU #1 as of right now since they're the defending national champs and they haven't lost yet. I'd have Alabama right where they are at #2. Bama destroyed Clemson at a neutral site when Clemson was #9 and then Bama went into Sanford Stadium on a Blackout night and embarrassed the preseason #1 team.

OU and Missouri look good right now, but they haven't played anybody worth a cuss. Texas might be the best in the Big XII.

I'd love to see Alabama and Penn State for the national title, but it's way too early to start thinking about that.

PSU has the best chance of that match-up now. OSU is the real hurdle between them and the NCG. Bama has a long hard road against them. The Big 12 will probably all canibalize each other and beat each other up in conference play.

Bama's D' is simply awesome, the bad thing is the SEC from week 2 week can beat each other up....case in point Ole Miss going to the swamp and beating #4 Fla. also look at Vandy a revamped team who will be a surprise.......if any team can run the table in the SEC it will be Bama.....and as you stated I'd love to see a Bama vs. PSU NC match-up....but we have to get by a Badger team in Wisc in 2 weeks for that to happen imho and a Mich St. team the last game of the year.....

no shit bout the big 12.. they'll beat up on each other during conf play... bama still has some sec teams to play.. well at least there will be exciting football week in and week out rather than a game or 2 a week

Not to mention last years runner up which are pointedly ignoring (although it's clearly a calculated move, and an attempt at slighting the class of the Big Ten...we get it, you're a hatah). It's IMO the only possible loss you face. Wiscy is one dimensional. Stop the run and they'll fold. MSU is resurgent, but not elite.

Pryor and Wells are going to give you guys fits, and our D is WAY superior to that seive they call D at Illinois. And the game is in Columbus. Play that game at Beaver Stadium in a White Out and I give you guys a chance. But you aren't going to march in to Columbus and beat the Buckeyes. Not this year...maybe in week two while the team was still finding it's 2008 identity, but not now, and certainly not on October 25th.

Disrespect duly noted...

i don't see how u can say the 2 hardest teams 2 get to the nc is wiscy and msu.. i mean come on now..... the osu and psu game is getting better and better evry week with the teams getting to top form and the rankings being factored into it..

He's a hatah. If PSU ignores the Buckeyes the way he is (and I guarantee you they aren't...they've got that game circled and have since last year), they'll get smoked by 5 TD's.

i think that they have evry conf game circled.. then the michigan game circled twice and then the osu game circled 3 times... lol..

How is USC still in the top 10 after losing to a team with alosing record. Also I'd have Wisconsin out of the top 25 after blowing a 19 point lead to Michigan

The Biggest scam going is USC still in the Top 10. They have no business being in the Top 10, not if OSU isn't there. OSU lost on the road to the #1 ranked team. USC lost at Oregon State, a team that is mediocre at best. The voters are obviously trying to get USC into a title game, especially with the Big 12 teams all having to play one another still.

Biggest farse ever. USC should not sniff the title game. Even if everyone else loses.

Actually, Auburn in the top 25 is the worst travesty. TOO much SEC love, especially since it's quickly becoming evident that the Big 12 is emerging as the top conference this year, with Oklahoma, Mizzou, Texas, Texas Tech, Kansas and Okie State all in the top 17.

I saw them play in person, and they are very good...on both sides of the ball. I'm not sure Nate Davis is as sure of a Pro prospect bet as some seem to think, but he's definitely another excellent MAC QB that will get his shot on Sundays.

They execute well, play solid in all 3 phases of the game, and are disciplined. I'm curious to see if they can run the table...the MAC is not a joke, and if they keep winning I could see them as a top 15 team with a nice bowl game.

10-07-2008, 10:00 PM
honestly the way the bcs is.. if they do run the table.. they would get screwed out of a good bowl game anyway

10-08-2008, 08:57 AM
Naw, they'll get into a BCS bowl if they make it into the top 12 (The "Notre Dame rule"). That's how Hawaii got to play Georgia last year...

I think BYU is locked in for the "at large" BCS game pick. 10 teams go, top 2 in the title game. 8 left. one from each conference, that's 6, ACC, East, Pac, Big 10, 12, SEC. 2 spots left. That leaves open the door for a team like BYU but I highly doubt that 2 mid level conferences get teams into the BCS games.

god forbid if ND beats NC this weekend and gets ranked at 5-1. They will be making a b-line for a BCS Game if thats the case.

revefsreleets
10-09-2008, 09:55 AM
Notre Dame won't beat NC this week. They'll also lose to Pitt and USC for sure, and will probably lose to Navy, BC and UW since those are all road games. They'll get 6 wins, and play in a better bowl than they deserve, but it won't be a BCS bowl.

Didn't think about BYU...and Utah is in there too. If they both win out, then the winner of that showdown (last week of the season) will get that at-large bid unless there is an upset or two along the way.

BYU vs Utah, isn't that the "Holy War" rivalry game...

I think Mormons believe you get your own planet when you die (Only WISH I was making that up), so a trip to a BCS bowl pales in comparison.

Yep, Its the HOLY WAR. Last game of the year, BYU vs UTAH.

http://www.answers.com/topic/utah-byu-rivalry

Anyway, only one of them gets to go to the BCS if they stay Undefeated.

Both of them at 11-0 on November 22nd would actually be a freaking awesome game. Holy War at its finest!
