assume he has given up the drugs and will play for the next 4 years (this may be like assuming t.o. will keep his mouth shut) what if they could get him for a 3rd rounder? about 2 mil/year for 4 years, with incentives. i know the steelers would probably never take a risk like this, but it is interresting to think about. i kind of like it but i dont know how he would fit in as a steeler? he would like to be a featured back but doesnt want to be pounded 35 times a game and could easilly give up some carries to willie and verron (this assumes duce is let go in a salary cap move)

Now that would be one hell of a risk. I see where your going here. But if it were up to me, I would say NO.

we don't need a old back, we need to find a back that will be our future........hopefully by 2007 we'll have that

williams is around the same age as l.t., alexander, and edge

granted it is risky cleve, but no balls, no glory right?

keep in mind the steelers should get a 3rd round compensetory pick for losing plaxico and could always draft a back to groom for a year or 2 in the later rounds koopa.

oh i didn't know his age, but even if he is off drugs everytime i see him in highlights it looks like he don't even want to be out there, he just don't want to pay the 8 mill or whatever they said he owed

the last few weeks hes been doing pretty good. he would have to gain a little weight if he were ever to consider baing a steelers feature back. just saw today where he used to just rely on his talent but now he is actually studying the gameto compensate for time missed. granted its a longshot but maybe worth the risk. he seems to want to EARN back that 8 mil, but who knows for sure is the question. im suprised the dolphins are actually giving him this much of a shot to prove himself. i bet theyre hoping to get a 2nd round pick for him.

No thanks, he was a helluva a RB but I dont trust him any further than I could throw him.. it would have to be a seriously incentive laiden deal.. like base salary and thats it plus incentives.

so with base salary + incentives youd take it?

if i was ricky id look no further than pittsburgh for that type of deal.

I'd have to think long and hard and put him thru every test, physical and mental you can give a FA. I'd consider it highly if he'd be willing to sign for the league minimum or just a tad over. that way if he's a bust we dont lose much.

I'd probably still error on the side of caution but if Im Ricky next year, Im seriously looking for a fresh start and u cant find a better place in the league for a RB than Pittsburgh or maybe Denver, but they're always stocked.

I would rather take my chances developing a rookie and hopeing that he comes to be a feature back
Pick up a back in the first or second round and pick up some offensive line in the FA.
Nate Washington becomes a big time receiver next year!!!!!!

now youre coming around!!! lol. it seems like a viable option but i think its a minimal chance to ever happen based soley on his past and ugly beard. steelers probably have a 1 shag/longhair minimum and polamalu fits the quota:grin:

Yeah the chances of it ever happening are slim to none really though..

i like BRC idea the most in some other thread about getting larry johnson, but that's also another slim chance to none

Nice thought but the Rooneys would never even consider it.

He weighs less than Parker does, and Willie is much younger, has no baggage, and has a whole lotta upside.

No way. Williams, TO, and these guys are untouchables as far as the Steelers are concerned, and I whole heartedly agree. That's why I wa glad to see Burress go. THese guys will do more harm than good for a team like ours.

Here we go.
