well, I don't remember him having any fumbles there, that's all that matters at this point

I just don't want him at runningback unless there's an emergency

We could have Gale Sayers back there returning punts and kickoffs and we still wouldn't be successful on returns. Our return units desperately need to learn how to form a decent wedge.

It's better than having him at tailback. It's definately better than risking injury to Holmes.

um, well....

And, for the second game in a row, wide receiver Santonio Holmes will return punts

i'd prefer him at tailback he got the job done
it wasnt his fault we lost to the jags....

we could have won both games.

Hey...

Dookie didn't do too bad on returns. No fumbles. Let's hope we can put together some blocking.

isn't it amazing that we can't block on either offense OR ST's?

Sounds like a pattern to me.

He had 25 yards on 16 attempts vs JAX last year in the playoffs. He is a 250lb guy that mentally thinks he is a 210lb running back and runs that way.

I like him as a kickoff returner and situational RB, but not as a main ballcarrier. Would rather have Gary Russell at RB as he runs with more forward lean and finishes runs falling forward, where Dookie stands up.

Our returners have been poor this year, but at least he hangs on to the ball--it's probably not too big a deal.

Every time I see Santo back there waiting for the ball, I cringe, as we can't afford to lose him to injury, especially now with the RB situation. Let's put Dookie to good use - let him return both the punts and KO's.

Absolutely.

And until we are better.... I say keep him to return punts. He catches the ball... doesn't fumble... and gets a couple yards... without making bad decisions.

The LAST thing I want is someone like Santo... Ward,,, etc. etc. back there.

we should bring back Colclough :chuckle:

I like Najeh on ST, he works hard at it. Guys don't like to run straight at him because he's big, so he runs right through some tackles. It's fun to watch. :D

Homes has a better chance of scoring on a Return, but the chance of fumbling or injury is strong. Speed gets you TD's on returns and Dookie is not known for that, but he does not fumble and he can be reliable so lets give him a chance.

This tells me he kept himself in excellent shape. Which is good news despite how much I may dislike the guy as a person...

I really don't get why we can't have any fast kick returners anymore. Sure Najeh will hang on to the ball and not get injured, but how far up the field is he going to get. We've got to pick up some kind of kick return specialist next year. By the way, what ever happened with Eddie Drummond?

Holmes isn't fast? Doesn't matter how fast a guy is when he is almost never given any room to run after making the catch to begin with. We need a new ST coach more than a KR.

Personally, I think we should make a deal with Wisenhunt and see what John Kuhn can do on returns!:tt03::wink02:

The return game is the one thing I can get on the ST coach for this season. Can't complain one bit about the coverage units - they have been terrific so far. If they play like that the rest of the season, he may keep his job, but I wouldn't care if they ultimately did replace him.

At least Dookie should be well rested. Sometimes it looks like he's about to fall asleep in the middle of a 2 yard run.

I wonder if theres a parallel universe where the Steelers have an explosive kick returner.

I dunno... We haven't had an explosive kick returner since Randel El, and all the guys we've brought in have turned out to be busts. Maybe someday we'll find our Hester.

I have no problem with Dookie returning kicks - he isn't known to fumble, and I'll take poor field position over no ball at all. Maybe he'll bring some fresh legs to the game.

Dookie will be a good fill in but like someone else stated above we need a good returner we just havent had that in a few years.

Well in the game shape that dookie probably is in, we might as well have Ben back there returning kicks. At least we know he can break a few tackles.

He was fat to begin with. I wonder how fat he is now. I.E. Dookie.

Fixed that for ya.
