View Full Version : Biden: Obama Will Fumble First Crisis

I guess we now know why Palin is more accessible to the press than Biden and Obama is, he simply destroys Obama whenever he opens his mouth.

http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/10/20/biden-obama-will-fumble-first-crisis/

In remarks that were either a stunning blunder or a shocking admission, Democratic vice-presidential nominee Sen. Joe Biden said today that a potential Obama administration would face an "international crisis to test the mettle of [Sen. Barack Obama]," within the first six months of taking office. But as if that wasn't bad enough, Biden continued his remarks, asking in advance for the assembled attendees at a Seattle fund raiser to rally to Obama's side when he inevitably doesn't handle the crisis very well at its outset.

"I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where [the crisis] might originate. And [Obama is] gonna need help. And the kind of help he's gonna need is, he's gonna need you - not financially to help him - we're gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right."

There are gonna be a lot of you who want to go, 'Whoa, wait a minute, yo, whoa, whoa, I don't know about that decision.' Because if you think the decision is sound when they're made, which I believe you will when they're made, they're not likely to be as popular as they are sound. Because if they're popular, they're probably not sound."

Was Biden expressing doubt in Sen. Obama's ability to handle a crisis, or doubt in his supporters' fidelity when things get difficult? Either way, the remark qualifies as potentially the biggest gaffe of the election thus far. The McCain campaign has been hammering home the notion that Obama's comparatively thin resume leaves him unprepared for the responsibilities of the office of president. Biden's comments, reported accurately, can only serve to reinforce that message.

Biden just gave everyone one perfect reason for why it is dangerous to vote for him to be president.

Voting Obama in will increase our risk for an "incident" and his inexperience will guarantee that folks will not agree with his handling of the predicted (by Biden no less) "crisis."

Has any Vice President in U.S. electoral history ever made it more clear that his running mate is completely unfit for the office that he seeks?

And if Biden doesn't have faith in Obama, why should the rest of us?

Don't get me wrong, I have some degree of respect for Senator Biden, but this was the same guy who said during the primary that "Obama was not ready to lead this country". :noidea:

Put down the :alcoholic Joe.

That .....was .....not smart.

Lets say that Obama does get elected....Biden just planted a seed of doubt in the minds of the populous that actually takes AWAY from Obamas ability to bounce back from a mistake. Regardless of who is president...that person needs the confidence of the American people.

Dont be surprised if as a "token of good will" Obama suggests to Biden that he go hunting with Cheney sometime this week.

It would be an even bigger threat to send him hunting with Palin. She can hit her target :applaudit:

Speaking of Biden, how many press conferences has he held?

Tony was talking strategy earlier about Palin and McCains difference stance on an issue, how about dissecting the strategy behind Bidens foot in his mouth here. I can relate to all the people who worried about Bush the last 8 years. Thinking about Obama winning has got me really nervous about our country's future. Socialism, gay marriage, amnesty for all illegals, partial birth abortion, letting foreign dictators do as they please with no accountability. There are absolutely no morals, ethics, pride and history anymore. Everyone is entitled to what others have whether they earned it or not.

Biden was probably one of the architects in bringing down the Bush/Republican majority by opposing everything in the loudest possible way... pointing out every problem and magnifying it.

Now, he thinks he opened pandora's box, and knows it will come back at him and Obama in spades.

He is prepping his people for it.

OOPS. gotta be a bit clearer on what you mean there Joe!

FOX news is really running with this story. i guess joe bidens gaffes are all the GOP has left to hang their "hat" on.

"Rubs rip Bidens "gaffes", everyone else simply laughs."

if this election comes down to biden saying something stupid, it was lost before it ever began. :chuckle:

we will see...., as everytime biden says something dumb his approval rating goes up (as opposed to palin shooting mccains approval rating through the sky whenever she speaks.)

Wow - the same was said a few weeks before the 2004 election about Kerry.

There are people on my street who I know are Libs that couldn't wait to put out their Kerry/Edwards signs a month before the 2004 election. None of them have an Obama/Biden sign in their yards two weeks before this election. Even though they claim to vote straight party line, It appears they are embarrassed to show their support for Obama, which is a crying shame.

See if you are "enjoying this" if your candidate wins, your taxes go through the roof and the government tells you how, when and where you can receive medical care. Be careful what you wish for.

Gaffe?

Afraid not my liberal friend. What Biden said was a well thought out speech. Trying to marginalize it as a gaffe is laughable. Please don't make me define the word gaffe for you tony. I don't think your ego could handle it. :toofunny:

I don't understand the hatred for Fox News?!?!?! I don't watch it, but why is it SO disturbing to liberals that the center/right has one news channel out of the 450 that broadcast? Can't you let people who think differently than you have one lousy channel?

This is only adds to the stereotype that liberals want to do the thinking for all the rest of us because only THEY know what's best for all...

I think Fox News has the highest ratings out of all the news channels. And unlike the others they don't sweep the Obama 'questions' under the rug.
