News just now breaking that the campus is locked down after shots fired....time to start praying guys and gals!!!

A Kentucky college campus was on edge after unconfirmed reports of shots fired and sightings of armed men with guns storming a resident hall.

There was no word of any injuries, and police told FOX News that they could not confirm any shots were actually fired.

But Western Kentucky University officials reportedly confirmed to local media that shots were fired near Pearce Ford Tower on the school's main campus.

Western Kentucky University officials said they were alerted that men brandishing guns were spotted on campus entering a dorm building.

University spokesman Bob Skipper said the incident was happening at the school's South Campus, where Bowling Green Community College is located.

The building was been evacuated and police are searching the area, Skipper said.

University lawyer Deborah Wilkins and police said there were no immediate reports of injuries.

Students who called a local newsroom said there were two announcements over the university's P.A. system warning them that they were in immediate danger and should take shelter.

A text message also said that shots were fired near Pearce Ford Tower on the university's main campus.

The South Campus building on Nashville Road was evacuated earlier following reports that one or more persons were observed in the building with weapons. WKU Police, Bowling Green Police and State Police have conducted an extensive search of the building and the premises. At this time, the police have been unable to find any witnesses or evidence to support earlier reports that weapons were present.

Following this, WKU PD received an unconfirmed report of shots fired in the vicinity of Pearce Ford Tower on the WKU main campus.

Police have confirmed that there was a physical altercation not involving weapons between individuals that occurred in or near PFT, but the police are interviewing witnesses on the scene to determine if weapons were or are present, or if shots were fired.

At this time, the campus emergency warning system has been activated. Students and employees have been advised to remain indoors, in secure areas, until an "all clear" is issued.

Still on lockdown....but it sounds better than initial reports.

The media needs to STOP sensationalizing these things...this is probably just another spoiled and "depressed" emo kid who thinks the world is out to get him because his mom took away his Xbox live subscription or something equally as inane and he knows he can make a big splash and "get famous" by shooting a school up.

Yep.

As horrible as this story is... you know some kid is hearing it and thinking... now I can make a big splash like that as well!!

BTW...CS85... I believe he said he was around Florence KY... which is quite a ways away from here.

Exactly. The Virginia Tech and Columbine shooters even said becoming famous was one of their motivations, and the media obliged them by airing their tapes. They need a journalistic standard where criminals are identified only by their initials and their pictures aren't published. (Except of course wanted suspects).

Kinda makes me afraid to take my wife back to the US.... But I'm a proud owner of a small arsenal.

Seriously, the parents need to take some of the blame. I'll be danmed if my kid would ever so something so stupid.

I'd be willing to bet my last dollar this kid's parents had little to do with him when he was younger.

This shit didnt happen in the 50's and we still had guns......so whats the explination???

Couldn't agree with you more there, revs. The media is "enabling" these kids to commit acts of violence by showcasing them and thus, playing into their hands.

Is there any follow-up on this story?

Geez - if CS85 indeed attends that university, I pray to God he is OK.
