Willie is starting to develop alittle bit of an alarming trend.. Fumbleitis. Back to Back fumbles, this game, and he's coughed it up in the Jax game at a crucial time too. Cowher was right to Bench him, you just cant have that.

Willie runs hard when he gets the chance but he just cant always find and use the right hole that is created for him... one play he shows signs of being a feature back, the next play he's dropped by a stiff breeze.

Duce gets the start, Jerome backs him up, and Willie is the 3rd down back.

IMO, Willie needs to take a seat for awhile, if we need to win out these last 4 games there can be zero mistakes.

I agree. Except the fumble, every time he touches the ball, he produces.

Can anyone explain why Duece hasn't been playing since he's been healthy?

Jerome doesn't have it this year and Willie's inconsistent.

It's time for Duce to be the starter and not the third down blocker. Let Willie come out of the backfield on 3rd.

I say we go with Duce and Jerome backing him. We need to let our running backs get a flow going. Even Jeff Hartings said each back has a different style and sometimes we have to look back to see which one is in. Duce should be very fresh since he hasn't played all that much. We also need to get back to power running football.

To tell you the truth, I was never really sold on Willie to begin with. Yeah, his speed is top notch but he doesn't seem to gain many yards after contact.

Plus, the Steelers aren't an outside running team. They pound the ball between the tackles for their yards and it doesn't look like that is Willie's strength.

Since Cowher and crew never decided on who they wanted to get the ball to consistently, the team is left with three guys that have not been able to get in to any sort of rhythm.

I understand that Duce was hurt early, but it still does not seem like the team is forcing its will on the opposition. By that I mean picking a back and ramming it down the defense's throat.

The line is partly to blame, but there is more than enough blame to go around. Especially when the team loses three straight.

The offense has seemed predictable at times but I think that is more a result of not being able to make the offense work. If the Steelers were piling up 100-yard rushers like last season, nobody would be calling the offense predictable. They would be calling it unstoppable.

If Pittsburgh can't find a way to run the ball effectively against the Bears, Ben is going to get killed. If the Steelers are forced to pass on obvious passing downs, that front four is going to tee off on the QB. Especially given the way the line has played. Of course, if receivers could have gotten open against Cincy, those last two coverage sacks would not have happened.

Our team has to win this one.

I don't really care as long as they find a formula and stick with it - the chopping and changing really can't help. I'd probably start with Duce if he stays fit for four quarters on the bounce.

This is Jerome's last year,SB or not.So we need Duce to produce, because I just don't think Willie is a feature back on THIS team.

Starter: Duce
Backup/Goal Line: Bettis
3rd Down/Mop Up: Willie

:iagree:

Playing musical running backs is just ridiculous.. Cowher has been sticking w/ Willie eventhough the running game has not been up to par...but after those fumbles and missed opportunities a change is needed.

duce is as healthy has he's going to get and so is Jerome..and neither of them have fumbleitis .
