To prove that he has relinquished the 'hands of stone' that he has been known for the past few years. This year, he has surprised me greatly with his speed and his ability to hang onto the ball. Sunday against the New York Giants is going to give him the chance to prove himself against the #11 rated pass defense in the league, #6 overall.

With Santonio Holmes, the normal #2 WR out with a devastating case of the munchies, the New York giants will key on Hines Ward and even double team him on crucial 3rd down plays. If Washington can keep going deep, (he has a catch for 48 yards against Jacksonville and 50 against Cincinnati) but also make a few crucial 3rd down catches while Ward is being smothered, he makes a great case for himself to become a bigger part of this offense upon Holmes return.

On a related note, Limas Sweed also has a chance to begin to prove himself this Sunday against the reigning Super Bowl Champs. With drop issues of his own, he needs to come out and catch every pass thrown his way, even if it is only one or two.

Man, you need to get off the Sweed thing. If he was as good as you claim he would be a starter. I do support the guy and hope he doe's well though.

nate does better the more involved he is in the game plan. i think its a focus thing.

I hope Nate steps up to the challenge tomorrow, WE ARE GOING TO NEED HIM TO....Honestly, I think Nate is going to be just fine and I think he'll get the job done....He's kinda been showing this year that he can be "The Man", I mean the "homeruns" Ben has been throwing to him, he's getting it done....But I will say, I really am a Limas Sweed fan also, I've been kinda wonderin' when he's gonna get a chance to show us a little somethin', well, tomorrow he will probably get his chance a few times to make an "impression", hopefully he takes advantage of it....And maybe, JUST MAYBE, if all of the WR's tomorrow step up, get the job done, and we get a nice BIG W, maybe Santonio Holmes WILL WAKE THE HECK UP and realize he is living a dream, and he is screwing it up with STUPIDITY...Maybe if all goes well tomorrow and we don't skip a beat with Holmes in there, MAYBE, he'll "get the picture" and make sure he doesn't screw up again....Playing in the NFL is a priviledge, not a right to gifted atheletes, the Steelers and the NFL will go on with or without Holmes, it's in his best interest to realize that.

SHUT UP about Sweed.
Nate has already proved himself good this season, and coming in against the Giants D and having a great game would be marvelous.
He needs to play smart, block, run clean routes and have hands of gold.
Nate has two bomb catches already and the Ben can def. throw them well so i see that happening tomorrow.

Aaron ross will be covering nate right? he has been having a bad season so far, hopefully nate can smoke him

It is also a chance for sweed to prove himself, at least as a #3, but nate has to prove he should be resigned next year

starters in the waiting . I love it

The key to Washington catching the ball? DON'T hit him in the hands. If it's a circus-style catch, he's always good. It seems the balls he has trouble with are the ones that are right on the numbers.

Although i will admit he has been a lot more solid this year.

20 hours a week on the JUGS machine?

I think Ben trusts Nate and he should do just fine filling in for Santonio. Nate has proven he can come in and play. I think he will do just fine.

I think it is more Sweeds or Bakers chance to prove themselves.
