Well...

I am preaching my sermon today, teaching Wednesday,

THEN ITS OFF TO PITTSBURGH!!! Yeah!!!!!!

Wait... .what is that? It sounds like Primanti Brother's calling my name from here!!!

I just HAVE to find a restaurant that serves real Perogies somewhere close to to the Hotel (just across from Heinz Field... and yes, I have had them at Jerome's. I want to find an authentic restuarant!).

.... counting down the hours... least I have a Steelers game waiting for me tomorrow night!

I wasn't aware there was a hotel across from Heinz field.....When we were there last year there was a lot of construction going on in that area...We stayed at the Marriot Springhill Suites which is right across from PNC park. We had a room with a hot tub..it was nice and the room was huge! ( even had a living room)

Have a great time in Pittsburgh!!!!:tt02:

That's because there isn't one - he's talking about the Springhill Suites. They ARE going to be building another one in the near future, though, either before or after the casino opens that will be near Heinz.

:tt:preacher, too bad its not 10-15 years ago and my grandma were up for it. as a devout roman catholic, she wouldve gladly accepted a friend of mine who were a complete stranger, into the house (especially a man of the cloth) and fed him and his family a fantastic home cooked polish meal.

at jeromes, i had the battered and deep fried hoagie. highly recommended along with the sun dried tomatoe pasta shrimp plate. 1 order of nachos is almost enough for a meal for 2.

a cod sandwich at wholleys is also worth it if youre on the strip.

have you gone to the primanti's at the PPG plaza downtown? really nice down there but i think the locals feel that one is the "sell out, college crowd, upscale primantis".

i didnt care... they had yeungling on tap and the plaza is really beautiful. :drink:

Yeah I was wondering what Hotel was across the street from Heinz Field. The only one I can think of near Heinz that is on the Stadium end of the Clemente Bridge was Springhill Suites across PNC Park.

I think we are going to rent a car on monday and just go driving around....

Anyone in here have any suggestions of where to go? We will have seen everything in downtown pittsubrgh we want to see, including the Strip District, Union center, the lifts (can't remember what they're called really).

We may want to drive around and look at some neighborhoods too, just to think about retirement in 20 years! :wink02:

also a 10-15 minute drive up the allegheny river on butler street will take you to the allegheny cemetary. its huge and beautiful to drive or walk through. some really interesting old gravestones and moseleums.

Then we went to the Heinze historical center.

If you haven't been there, GO! I really enjoyed it. Learned quite a bit that I didn't know, even world events.

Especially for you Pittsburgher's, take the time to go (I live oh so close to Alcatraz, and have never gone... So I know how it is easy to skip what your next too.
