We know the Steelers will be picking near the bottom of the first round, regardless. So what do you go for? OL, DL ?

We've seen what happens when the Steelers ignore the OL on the first day of the draft, look no further than a couple years ago. We always have a great OL becuz we keep fresh new bodies coming in via the draft for depth.

Prospects for a top notch DL probably arent the greatest late in the first round, so maybe do you trade out of it and get another 2nd round pick ? We need depth on the DL with Kimo's contract becoming a cap issue next year.

Here's whats being said, and I like it so far. Draft a CB first round. With last year being big on CB less demand this year great players slip to mid and late round slots. Then, sad to say, Bell gets tagged and traded for equal 2nd round pick. This is where d-line gets picked. And we still pick again in the second. Skill pick here(TE or RB being speculated) then stock pile line picks the rest of the way. Nothing flashy, just drafting smart.

Bell is such an impact player, he's so explosive and powerful, I can still remember him bullrushing OG and just flat out knocking them on their arse. But the guy just cant stay healthy, and with him being a FA, I just dont know that you can dump all that money into him, when he hasnt played even a complete season since his rookie year.

Foote has done quite well there, and Im happy with him at this point.

I dont see us going TE at all in this draft or atleast not until day 2..only because we still have Jerame & matt kranchick from last years draft, and cushing is a do it all player. not to mention jay r. depending on his health status.

Found the list of agents. Going to post it under new topic. Still want a CB in first round as Williams is not any younger and Scott might be past prime.

A CB. I'd like to see Adam "Pacman" Jones from WVU drafted since i'm from Morgantown and a WVU fan.

Yeah having ben and another backyard boy on the team would be sweet but too bad we did good this year::) We'll be picking at the bottom.

Im not sure I'd see us going DB in the first round though..even if Scott is possibly released next year for cap reasons, we still have Taylor and Coclough waiting in the wings to help out. But we should definately address it at some point in the draft though, for depth.

I think you maybe right, it just depends on numbers at corner. If not expect a long two days of stock piling lines and line backers.

I think we'll go RB also, but not until day 2..if jerome retires like many speculate that he will, that'll leave us with duce, verron, and willie..which is fine, but I'd like to see us have alittle more depth since verron is somewhat injury prone.

I have been busy doing homework on this. Have seen speculation on the following:

CB
Brandon Brower - Oregon St., Corey Webster - LSU, Carlos Rogers - Auburn, Marion Jackson - Michigan
DE
Justin Tuck - Notre Dame, Dan Cody - Oklahoma, Demarcus Ware - Troy St.
TE
A. Smith - Stanford
RB
Marion Barber III - Minnesota, Kay-Jay Harris - West Virginia(not as #1 pick, but everyone is saying we will take him sometime, so worth mentioning)

The one to watch is Demarcus Ware. He has been steadily moving up boards. Is too small for DE, and is better fit for OLB in 3-4(sound familiar?). I don't think he is #1 worthy yet, but since he is smaller school rep, it sounds like another Steelers move up in the 2nd round and get two good playersin top 50 picks.

Yes i agree with Some we need to spend our 1st rounder on a CB and out of all the CB coming out i like these 2 -1-Brandon Browner CB - Oregon St - -2- Justin Miller -Clemson-

in the 2nd round i hope we pick up a TE with some speed, but i got a feelign we ant gonna get no TE's but here my 2 i like-1-Heath Miller-Virginia- -2-Adam Bergen Lehigh-

I'd be all for DL on the first day.. there's no glaring weakness that needs a first round pick to step in right away on our team. You could make a case for WR, with Plax gone, but I really think they make look to FA for another big WR if we can..to give Zamir Cobb a legit shot at the job in the future since he has a big upside.

Last year I would have said CB in the first round..but we've spent several big picks on DB's the last few years..with Troy, Ricardo, and Ike....Troy is of course a beast at safety..but w/ williams resigning soon, that buys us alittle time I think to see if coclough can do the job they hope he can.. I like Taylors size, but he seems alittle inconsistent.

I can see it. I like how we are starting to have options on who to take. That will allow us to take the best player not take need(Edwards?). As long as we don't reach with a pick.
