View Full Version : Steelers vs. Skins - Who Gets Your Game Ball?

11-03-2008, 11:49 PM
So many choices - Woodley, Silverback, Farrior, Leftwich, etc., etc.

After careful consideration, mine goes to Papa Lebeau and the entire Steelers D. :tt03: They played just an awesome game and kept us in it early on when our O was sputtering. Lebeau knows how to get every last drop of effort and perseverance out of his men. Great job yet again guys! :applaudit::hatsoff::tt02:

Byron Leftwich. Without his offense this could have been a long night, but the defense is a close second!

11-03-2008, 11:52 PM
Gotta go with Leftwich - he was ready to play and he played well.

The Duke
11-03-2008, 11:52 PM
gotta say Leftwich

gave the team some life

but we do not win without that defense

11-03-2008, 11:52 PM
The Defense. Duh.

They kept the Steelers in it when down 6-0. And never let up the rest of the game. Absolutely powerful performance by the Steelers Defense. Best in the NFL, hands down.

11-03-2008, 11:52 PM
the defense

Carolina Steelers
11-03-2008, 11:58 PM
Are you kidding the defense only gave up 2 FG's on the 1st 2 possesions a botched onside kick and an interception. They get the game ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11-03-2008, 11:59 PM
Letftwich hands down. But boy is the D fun to watch.

11-04-2008, 12:00 AM
Defense was stellar but Leftwich edges them out with the nice relief work. :applaudit:

11-04-2008, 12:02 AM
its so close i really wanna give it to the D, but after Lefty's performance im gonna give it to him

11-04-2008, 12:03 AM

Wow does our FO know how to pick backups!!

11-04-2008, 12:03 AM
I'll give two out to Leftwich and the D

11-04-2008, 12:31 AM
I love Lefty's fill-in but Im'a give it to Farrior.

He was everywhere and played a huge game tonight.

11-04-2008, 12:34 AM
The D, hands down.

- held the league's leading rusher to just 51 yards on 13 carries
- gave up just 221 total yards
- did not allow a first down on 8 of the Skins' first 10 drives
- held the Skins to just 3-15 on 3rd down and 0-2 on 4th down
- allowed 6 points on the first 2 drives, and didn't give up jack after that
- 7 sacks
- double digit hurries/knockdowns
- 2 INT

As dominant a performance as it gets.

11-04-2008, 12:38 AM
I gotta go with the D too. Just swarming.

11-04-2008, 12:39 AM
Leftwich definitely. That energy he brought in on those drives allowed us to get up by 3 possessions; therefore our defense could really pin their ears back and get after the Redskins QB. When you're up on a team and they have to pass, they are at your mercy .

11-04-2008, 12:41 AM
I'm gonna have to go with Leftwich

11-04-2008, 01:12 AM
#1- Leftwich. It looked like the changed the play calling some when he came in. He played very well, good job Lefty...he'll be starting somewhere next season.

#2- Defense. They held the Redskins to two feild goals all game, in the first half.

1 ball. 11 men on D. i would say farrior on defense. he is due and often goes unrecognized. (but james and wood probaly deserve it on any given week if it werent for aaron smith or ike taylor).

leftwich deservs the recognition too for doing his best big ben impression.

i still cant believe we got him as the back up to our back up.

11-04-2008, 01:57 AM
Are you guys kidding ??? Leftwich was great yeah, the defense played well but the one who really deserves the game ball is Andre Frazier.

The offense was going nowhere

The defense was playin well but they dont score points(even though they keep you in the game)

but for me the play that really changed the pace of the game was the blocked punt by Andre Frazier.

Because of him we were able to score before the end of the 1st half and be more comfortable in the beginning of the 2nd half(by the way it was the first Plackenmier blocked punt in his entire career college include)

so congrats Andre and also on a thumbs up note WHAT A DEFENSE MAN....the best ive seen in years

11-04-2008, 02:03 AM
Game ball goes to LeBeau hands down...good job of Leftwitch to fill in though

Steel Duck
11-04-2008, 03:25 AM
Lefty played great...no question! But I'd have to say defense gets the ball!!!::tt02:

11-04-2008, 04:06 AM
I agree about Andre Frazier, but I would give it to him cause it's good to see him back on the field and making plays, especially after being taken off the field on a stretcher in the first week.

11-04-2008, 04:52 AM
I say LeBeau. Lefty played great tonight, but the D was great the whole game. They held the leading rusher to only 51 yards. And it all starts with LeBeau. Great game as a whole.

Galax Steeler
11-04-2008, 05:13 AM
I would have to split the ball and half and give it to lefty and the deffense what a game they played.

11-04-2008, 06:00 AM
I agree with everyone........Byron gets the offensive gameball but that awesome, unrelenting performance by the entire Steelers defense deserves a golden game ball! Without the D's pittbull attitude, we might as well have put Pee Wee Herman under center when Ben went down. It wouldn't have mattered.

11-04-2008, 07:49 AM
Harrison would get mine once again, his sacking was superb!

If there was an offensive ball definately going to Byron though!

11-04-2008, 07:52 AM
One more vote for Leftwich.

11-04-2008, 08:01 AM
Gotta go with Lefty! His play completely changed the game for us.

D is a close second. Again, a solid game by the best in the NFL. I love watching them!

11-04-2008, 08:08 AM
Leftwich. To come into the game like that and play very good as he did. The D no doubt deserves the credit, but we a re spoiled by them and kinda expect that from them.

11-04-2008, 08:09 AM
The D. Or if that is too broad, the LB corps

11-04-2008, 08:18 AM
Two words...

11-04-2008, 09:22 AM
Defense. PERIOD!

11-04-2008, 10:05 AM
Lefty played great...no question! But I'd have to say defense gets the ball!!!::tt02:

Nothing short of outstanding effort by our outstanding D!!

11-04-2008, 10:11 AM
:helmet: DEFENSE:helmet:

11-04-2008, 10:54 AM
Leftwich played great, but the defense held them to 6 points, and even those points shouldn't hang on the D (no first downs on those drives), cuz they were pinned in there own territory and in field goal range to start both drives.

Even without Leftwich we win this game, so game ball goes to the D as a cohesive unit.

11-04-2008, 11:03 AM
Defense get my ball. Lefty gets a close second.

I just can't believe how they keep us in the game, every game!

11-04-2008, 11:40 AM
Lefty on Offense, and the entire D - they deserve it equally :tt02:
A superb performance from both last night shut down the Skins AND their entire stadium :tt:

11-04-2008, 12:02 PM
Definitely the defense. We pinned them down so bad we would've won even if we didn't score any more points after the awful first half. THAT'S saying something.

Leftwich was pretty good, but really, all he had to do was come in and not be completely erratic. After another stink bomb of a performance by the offense in the first half, he was bound to look better by comparison.

11-04-2008, 12:04 PM
James farrior he was mr everywhere last night!:tt03::tt03::tt03:

11-04-2008, 01:00 PM
The defense gets the game ball...

11-04-2008, 03:31 PM
Our amazing defense always shows up. For Leftwich to go in like he did and Dominate shows just how amazing our team is and the Depth we have. Everyone is talking about our 3rd string Back Moore. Again, that's depth that's undeniable.

Leftwich, this ball is for you.

11-04-2008, 04:36 PM
Easy, Leftwich and Defense

11-04-2008, 05:05 PM
It was a total team effort. The defense ruled, Leftwich was a bada$$, Moore continued to amaze me, Andre Frazier with his blocked punt...

11-04-2008, 05:12 PM
Lefty, Farrior and Frazier all played beyond expectations. Great job guys.
It's almost routine now for Silverback and Woodley......Steeler fans are spoiled!

11-04-2008, 10:45 PM
The bestest Defense in the NFL gets my game ball. :tt02:

Rock on boyz!
