I grabbed this from a Steelers Livejournal group I'm a part of. What's everyone's thoughts on this?

----------------------------------------------

If The Playoffs Started Today
1. COLTS ? z 12-0 5-0 10-0 @JAX (9-3), SD (8-4), @SEA (10-2), ARZ (4-8)
= 31-17 (.646)

2. BRONCOS 9-3 3-1 6-2 BAL (4-8), @BUF (4-8), OAK (4-8), @SD (8-4)
= 20-28 (.417)

3. BENGALS 9-3 4-1 6-3 CLE (4-8), @DET (4-8), BUF (4-8), @KC (8-4)
= 20-28 (.417)

4. PATRIOTS 7-5 3-0 5-4 @BUF (4-8), TB (8-4), @NYJ (2-10), MIA (5-7)
= 19-29 (.396)

Wildcard Teams W-L Div. Conf. Remaining Schedule

5. JAGUARS 9-3 2-1 7-2 IND (12-0), SF (2-10), @HOU (1-11), TEN (3-9)
= 18-30 (.375)

6. CHARGERS 8-4 3-1 6-2 MIA (5-7), @IND (12-0), @KC (8-4), DEN (9-3)
= 34-14 (.708)

Contenders W-L Div. Conf. Remaining Schedule

7. CHIEFS 8-4 3-2 7-3 @DAL (7-5), @NYG (8-4), SD (8-4), CIN (9-3)
= 32-16 (.667)

8. STEELERS 7-5 3-2 6-5 CHI (9-3), @MIN (7-5), @CLE (4-8), DET (4-8)
= 24-24 (.500)

9. DOLPHINS 5-7 1-3 3-5 @SD (8-4), NYJ (2-10), TEN (3-9), @NE (7-5)
= 20-28 (.417)

The Jags could lose those last two games. The Chargers could drop their last three. It would be nice for the Chief's train to stop rolling too. The Bengals schedule could be worse but I could still see them going 2-2. They do that and we win out the rest of our games, the season starts over!! Wishful thinking??? I hope not.

If the playoffs started today we'd be on the outside looking in from our couches for the rest of the way..

but yeah its not out of the realm of possibility for us to get in and maybe even get the top wildcard seed..but so much has to happen all Im hoping for is just a shot.. u never know..

the ratbirds went on the road the entire way to their SB win.. but then again they didnt have the colts standing in their way either.

Maybe We'll be the next team to do it as a Wild Card.

that would be one for the ages wouldnt it !! a team that started out strong, fought through injuries and a mid season let down, only to come back stronger than ever and win it all..

yes that would indeed be something !!

Don't forget to, We Can Come Back And Win The Divison in addition to the Super Bowl if the Bengals have a let down.

If the playoffs started today, the Steelers would be where they deserve to be: At home eating pizza, drinking beer and watching the playoff games along with the rest of us. Should we have 2 more wins? Yes. Why don't we? Because we had an injury at QB and had to play Tommy Maddox...and it's ultimately the Steelers fault for keeping a washed up has-been noodle-armed QB on the team, let alone #2 on the depth chart.

If we win out, go 11-5 and make the playoffs, we'll deserve to be there, but we don't right now.

I can definatly see the Jags losing some games (esp. the Colts game) with Leftwitch out.

Stan is sayin the 2nd Wildcard is a reasonable possibility for the Steelers.

That Jax loss due to Turnover Tommy all the worse...Not only did it give them a win, it also gave them the tie-breaker.

Tommy is the #1 reason we're in the position. If it wasn't for his sucking,we'd be with only 3 losses.

Suitanim

But it's still the Steelers fault. Nobody was holding a gun to Cowher's head saying Tommy had to be the #2 QB.

That Jax loss due to Turnover Tommy all the worse...Not only did it give them a win, it also gave them the tie-breaker.

definitely the loss that hurts the most having a 7-5 record right now. although the ravens loss was more embarrasing, the loss counts as a win and a half to the jaguars.

right now the colts, denver, and cinci are our best friends cause each can knock the likes of jax, sd, and kc a notch down. us winning out with them would say alot going into the playoffs. the veterans better be pounding this into the youngsters heads. just like you know the patriots are doing, like a snake in the grass. to be the champs you have to act like champs and now is the time.

i really think that tommy maddox has been the killer for us this year we shouldve beat the jags and if batch was healthy we couldve beat the ravens no problem but now we have to fight for a playoff spot! of course turnovers killed us against the bengals this time around and we really needed that game . we have to win from here on out and hope others lose that we need to lose the season looked really good at the start but if we dont make playoffs that is just depressing :crying01:

steelcurtain101
12-06-2005, 08:28 PM
quick note for next year can maddox ........... good byeeeeeeeee:grin: pick up somebody else that can win and looks like a quarterback and have batch and whoever fight for #2
batch can win and looks alot!!!!!!! better out there then maddox

We'll keep Batch, dump Maddox, and pick up a late round QB. We need Maddox and Bettis' cap space for next year.

I heartily concur. Ed.B. of the P-G blames 2 of the losses on the coaching. I assume he means not using Bettis in OT in the Jax loss and the f****d up game plan in the Baltimore loss. In other words, Maddox is awful but the coaches should have known that and adjusted accordingly. Agree or disagree?

After the Baltimore game all the other flaws in this team were more obvious. Since this franchise should aspire to the Super Bowl, not simply the playoffs, not making the playoffs would at least avoid this year being a repeat of 2002 and 2006 being a repeat of 2003 if management remains in denial regarding this team's flaws.

:iagree: atleast we know batch wouldve been the starter for the baltimore game had he not been hurt. i think that wouldve given more of a fighting chance. that int off wards leg in over time sure was f'd up though. but then again so was the jax int.

maybe that is how we will have success in th playoff.......obviously a first round buy and homfield advantage doesnt help us........maybe the wild card under dogs is what we need to win one for the thumb

Nah ur right about that, but cowher in his usual ways was gonna do it no matter what though.

Well the best chances for us to make the playoffs are by KC going 2-2 and SD going 3-1.
KC plays at Dallas, at Giants, Chargers, Bengals I can see a 2-2 there with a loss to the Chargers and 1 loss in the other 3
SD plays Miami, at Indy, at KC, Broncos I can see at least 1 loss there if not more.

We just need KC to lose 2 and SD to lose 1 and of course win out and we are in! Hopefully riding a 4 game winning streak and getting our crap together in the process.

The Steelers will win out or at least go 3-1...

1. Indy (16-0)
2. Den (13-3)
3. Cinci (13-3)
4. NE (?) who cares they are in
5. Jacks (12-4)
6. Pitt (11-5)

If KC goes 2-2 we will have to see who wins the Tie Breaker

7. KC (10-6)
8. SD (9-5)

Jacks is not going to lose the top playoff spot with that schedule.
SD will beat Miami and lose to INDY, KC and the Denver game who cares.
KC will lose to either Dall or NYG, and Beat SD at home and we will have to cheer for Cinci as a because if Cinci beats KC in KC we will be in the playoffs....I know cheer for Cinci that will be tuff!!!

Rotorhead

I think SD is a better team than KC, could possibly beat Indy (but I hope not) and could lose or beat Denver, I just want them to lose one. I think KC could lose to the Cowboys or the Giants since they are both away for KC. KC is the biggest ? to me as they seem to be peaking right now and that is not good for us.

if cinci cant get the #2 seed by winning the final game they will rest their players and lay down for the cheifs. they would rather see k.c. in the playoffs than the steelers anyways imo

True...but they are tied now and I don't see either team losing until at least the last week...so I think they will both be playing for a 1st round Bye

our best bet is w/ KC..they have the toughest schedule and the the jags could falter w/ garrard in there at QB.

Rotorhead

I agree our best bet is with KC as well, but we still have to have SD lose 1 more for sure. I could see the Jags faltering if they had a more difficult schedule, but it will be too easy for them unfortunately.
