This whole thing goes to another point.... People in the west may not even get a chance to affect this election, as the eastern states may seal it up before the western states get off work to vote.

That is why I wish the polls would open from 9 until 9 on the east coast, 6 until 6 on the west coast, and the in between ran accordingly. That way, all the polls close at the same time.

There is always truth to stereotyping. Sure there are exceptions to the rule, but sometimes the truth hurts. Do you blame Bush for your salary going down? Do you think people who make more money should be forced to donate there salary. Whats sad to me is the people who want something for nothing. I work above and beyond my regular hours and sacrifice time with my 5 year old daughter while most sit on their fat asses and watch TV. Screw socialism. The only good thing about this election is when things don't get better for the unproductive they will have no one to blame. The winners are the illegals who will come here in clusters and the people who commit crimes and get off easy. It may not be here in my life time or my daughters but socialism is creeping closer.

I work for a small group of doctors......and guess what? They fall smack dab in the group that's going to get hit with The Messiah's tax plan. They are very worried. The votes of the uneducated masses today may cost me my job, or at the very least my hours being cut, and losing benefits that they can no longer afford for us.

But hey......doctors are making way too much.......we should give some of their money to less fortunate slackers so they can feel successful, too.

The key to a successful transition to socialism is to trick people into wrongly blaming capitalism and looking to the government for solutions. For instance, when our taxes go up, unemployment should too and more companies will probably move overseas and go out of business. The economy may likely get much worse. The trick is, even though government caused the problem, just like high gas prices, capitalism could get blamed and the ignorant masses will want more government to protect them. So even if the next 4 years sucks, the sheep may still blame it on capitalism and free markets, even though that is what made are country the greatest on earth.

with your post i got the feeling you were bringing past issues and disagreements into a thread in which it had no relation.

from reading some of the comments i read in this thread i get the feeling everybody should hide their firstborn sons, and that people should hida all their plastic straws and paper products that can be used as weapons (i.e. spitwads).

Yeah, I love that excuse. It doesn't matter that the Republicans have had control of the white house for the last 8 years and 6 years control of the Senate. People are dropping the Republican party for a reason: They screwed up!

The Republicans engineered a war we did not need to fight and then blamed the Democrats for the bill. There is a reason the Republicans have locked George Bush in a closet for the last six months. He is living, walking, breathing proof of all their mistakes.

Stop blaming the media and don't blame the American people for 'being duped', should they make a decision that differs from your own. Don't think yourself smarter than anyone else, especially when it comes to political views. It's immature and it shows that you really don't understand what the election is all about.

I'm so happy that today's events are going to work out so well for you. For the rest of us, it's not just an intense dislike of the man(which I admit I have), but how it is going to affect our lives. My husband and I got married 9 years ago and we've worked very hard to make the small steps that we have. This is a huge setback........not to mention I don't believe in anything that man stands for or the direction he'll take our country. The color of his skin makes no difference to me. He goes against every core value I have and I believe in my heart that this country is going to sink to depths never before experienced - even worse than the last 8 years.

What sickens me almost as much is having Michelle Obama as the First Lady - a role model for America's young women. :puke: Maybe now that her husband has won, she will be proud to be an American for the next 4 years. Or maybe not.

It represents how far this country has come in the past 40+ years, back when blacks could not even vote. But I'm just not. This guy goes against most of my core beliefs, and I really believe that by the end of his first (and hopefully only) term, we're going to be even worse off than we are now. His "pie in the sky" promises come at a significant cost, and if anyone believes that those costs are strictly going to be limited to people making more than 250K a year, then I'm sorry, but you are naive.

Yeah, and most people were duped into buying the 'horseshit' that Obama was "palling around" with terrorists, too. Or calling him a "terrorist", a "communist", or a "socialist". Which is what your idol and Sister Sarah have done nothing but do this entire campaign.

Yeah, Bush won in 2004, and what did we get out of it? I didn't like it when Bush got re-elected, but I didn't go on a bitter spell and rooting for the man to fail. If Mccain won, I would congratulate him and wish him the best. If he's successful, it bodes well for us, right? But to me, the man is another extension of Bush. Both candidates have questionable ideas, I don't fall into the far side of either, but after all, isn't politics a contest to see who can lie the best? Bush has done that pretty well. The difference here is that Obama's lies haven't got anyone killed.

I'm pro-choice but I don't support abortion. I just don't think its my job to enforce a law that prohibits people from making a decision that I am not apart of.

Besides, abortion is such a minor issue. You don't have to be supportive of everything a party stands for. Some independence can be healthy.

If the Dems would be pro-life, I would vote for the dem party. If both parties would. I would make a choice between them.

I checked the 3rd parties... and none of them held the major issues I want.

Trust me, I am very independent. What I am not, is a person that will release the issue of killing children on the altar of "choice"

Really? Just like people in the 1800's should get over slavery?

You mean you don't think you should decided whether human beings are killed or not? Really?

Of course, I didn't know I was supposed check my morality at the door because it wasn't politically expedient.

we both disagree on abortion.. but i dont think i or you or anyone has the right to tell another person what to do

I don't support the democratic party in every issue either but that doesn't keep me from voting for them.

You shouldn't oversimplify an issue to "either or". I think partial birth should be illegal but people keep telling me that I must take sides with one of the extremes.

To me its amazing anyone would think something that horrific is ok. Especially our President. I am not trying to be high and mighty, I believe there is a place for abortion. First trimester if baby mongoloid , mom raped, but not as birth control and not after first trimester.

kind of hard to be feared when the terrorists and corrupt dictators support Obama. The whole world is doing back flips. Now we will have to rely on the UN's sanctions, like those work.

I don't think so. I think those groups that hate us will always hate us. We are still a Christian country and unless we convert to Islam and end our support of Israel, we will always be hated. No matter who is in office.

George bush was in office for 8 years...
there have only been 2 democratic presidents in the last 30 years.... Why is abotrion legal??

It does not seem that your votes have solved the issue

There is a diffrence between a News show and a Talk Show.

The political talk shows on FOX are slanted conservitive, the News is pretty fair.

The other networks all of it is slanted liberal, "News" and talk.

What the hell is msnbc going to do now?

I think we have the responsibility to protect human beings. In the same way we had a right to tell people in the south in the 1800's that their property wasn't property... they were human beings.

We have not the right, but the responsibility to protect ALL HUMANITY.

Thats why I asked the question at the end about the 8 1/2 month fetus. Separate issue , just wanted to see if you had a line drawn.

Because the courts have control over the issue. One each of Bush and Reagan's picks shifted pretty far left (Kennedy and Souter).

On top of that, Ford was not really a conservative (don't forget, he was part of Nixon's administration, who ran to the left of kenedy in 1960). So really, you only have since 1980 to go by.

okay so the people we are voting in really havent done anything about it...... and most likely no president ever will .... so why base your candidate on this issue....
I appologize if i offended you by saying get over it.... but as i just mentioned a candidate says ya or nay on abortion and both sides jump on that candidate and elect him....(or her).... but nothing is being done either way..... so why worry so much about their beliefs on abortion when there not going to do anything about it anyway..

Obama may have to select 3 supreme court justices during his term.... and it still will not make a difference

3 branches of government! You know?

You may have a President who would be willing to have constitutional ban on abortions, but you have to have both houses of congress to agree then you would have to have the supreme court make a ruling on the issue.

Checks and balances.
