pretty disturbing trend, considering they were all games we shouldve won and simply shot ourselves in the foot multiple times and handed them over on a platter.

07-
cardinals, jets, patriots, (ok this one we simply got beat), ravens (resting starters)

08-
eagles, giants, colts

we still have 3 more 4:15 games and possibly an additional 2 with flex scheduling.

i dont like to read too much into trends like this but tomlin is 7-1 in 1:00 games and a whopping 9-1 in primetime games.

WTF is going on???

aaron smith suggested moving the games to 4:20 :smoker:

I guess we can blame Arians for this too

Kinda weird though. Now I'm hoing the itans game stays at 1:00

a whopping 9-1 in primetime games.

Now that's cool :tt03:

Now that's cool :tt03:the titans game is the one game that is non flex. the other 2 are vs. the ravens, and the final game of the season vs. the browns.

its obvious this is a focus issue and the extra 3 hours sitting around on sundays really messes with the players schedules. its shown in the games as they get poorer and sloppier as the game wears on. maybe they just get hungry. :noidea:

It's a focus issue, yes, but I don't think it's because of the extra wait time. If that were the case, then it would affect them on Sunday night games when they have to wait even longer, which obviously it doesn't.

Preacher

Maybe it just has to do with the quality of teams played at the 1:00 time slot (West coast, remember, 4:00 for you all on the east coast!). Aren't the games scheduled later usually better games (unless they are playing in the west coast). That means the quality of the average game is higher.

If that were the case, then it would affect them on Sunday night games when they have to wait even longer, which obviously it doesn't.well like the article said, players tend to get a little more jacked up for primetime where they dont share the stage. its probably a bit easier to adjust to a night time schedule :noidea:

sitting around for an extra 3 hours on sunday must be like being stranded in an airport. i know how anxious i get when the steelers are in the AFCC game and they play in the late game. all i can think is they sit around watching all the early games focused on what all the other teams are doing and perhaps losing a bit of focus on the upcoming game.

it is strange that we have this trend.. but i rly wouldn't look into it that much.... we should always come out and play i dont know. its almost impossible for me to ignore. its bugging me!

If it worked, everyone would be happy.

If it didn't, a bunch of this board would be calling for Tomlin's head on a platter,

A bunch of this board would blame Arians, since he called the wrong plays... the clock should have been set back 2 hours instead,

A bunch of this board would blame Willie Parker, since he wasn't about to get the yard to the clock and stop Tomlin.

Then, others of us would come to their defense, saying that it should have been tried, and what would Cowher have done in that situation, just be patient.

Of course, we all know, that it really is Bush's fault, since he messed with day-light savings time.

Oh yeah, btw, Goodel would fine Tomlin for adjusting the clocks, and the Union would file a grievance as well.

perhaps the steelers just eat a nice hefty early dinner before the late games and by the time the 4th quarter rolls around they just gotta go poop.

3. West to East still a beast
I'm getting tired of talking about it, but after 11 weeks of NFL football not one team that has traveled three time zones west to east has won a game. Two teams have fell victim to the strange phenomenon again this weekend as the Raiders and Chargers lost on the east coast. After 11 weeks, the record stands at 0-14. The good news is there are no three time zone trips this upcoming weekend, but the bad news is there are still six left on the 2008 schedule.

:bump:

a very astute member reminded me this was a "slumpbuster" thread so i had to bump it. the steelers are 3-0 in their last 3 4:15 games and on the leads longest winning streak (4-0).

but this trend of losing the last 5-6 in baltimore is bugging me. it needs to be addressed. i might get irate (again).

2 of those losses have been in overtime (remember the fluke play that hines caught and as he fell his leg flipped the ball up 10 feet for the int)? atleast 1 loss has been the steelers resting starters for the playoffs (maybe 2).

there was tommy's final game as a steelers starting qb which was our only loss in 2004 (rookie ben came in for a strong rally).

then there was the shutout in 2006.

tomlin is 0-1 in that shithole and it needs to be fixed immediately to continue our 4:15 streak. :tt::tt03::tt02::helmet:

Roethlisberger has no good memories from Baltimore. The Steelers are 0-4 there during his era, although he has played just 1 1/2 games there. He sat out last season to get ready for the playoffs and missed the '05 game because of a knee injury.

0-6 for the Steelers. 0-4 for Ben. Balance in the universe must be restored!

SteelMember

Ok, this might not be considered a streak, but the record isn't very good.

Pittsburgh has an all-time record of 1-7 in Tennessee
since the Titans moved there in 1997, with the only victory coming
on Nov. 25, 2001 (34-24)...Tennessee had won three straight in
the series and 10 of the past 12 games, including a 34-31 overtime
victory in the AFC Divisional Playoff in 2002, prior to the Steelers’
victory in 2005...the two Steelers’ victories in that span were a
season sweep in 2001, when both teams were in the AFC Central
Division...included in that season sweep was a 34-7 win on Oct.
29, 2001, the first Monday Night Football game in Heinz Field
history...Mike Tomlin has never faced the Titans.

This has got to go...

"they need to start wining some games and they can no lose any more games."

Wow this original post sure changed around that 4:15 record. Maybe somebody should point out our .345 winning percentage in AFC championship games and it will help us get to the superbowl again.

I doubt that statistic has much meaning. Sometimes, if you look at a bunch of statistics, you'll see a funny pattern in there. That's just a consequence of not having enough data. I'd put money on it that if the Steelers played 100 4:15 games under Tomlin, those numbers would approach their normal winning percentage.

Kind of like flipping a coin. You could get 7 straight heads and think something was up with the coin, until you flipped it 100 times and wound up 50/50.

Tomlin has never won a post season game when the Steelers are scheduled to play the first game of the day.
