Well it was another ugly win for the steelers. I posted it before but to all the ben doubters and willie haters... NO THEY DONT NEED TO BE RESTED. I told you willie would break out over a hundred yds, and ben would turn his slump around. a couple of other posters and myself were correct in saying that if the steelers didnt score an offensive touchdown it wold be a field goal shootout. well werent we all right :tt02:

i guess...

this only brings about the other problems with the steelers failing to execute in specific situations. AKA MeMo getting stuffed on the one.... again. Tomlin and Arians need to go back to the practice fields and work on execution.

but all in all a win is a win and the defense pulled another one out for us, players of the game

Harrison: safety and int
parker: 100yds and quieting the critics

:drink:

what did you think about the win?

Yes now everyone see's why Parker should and will remain the Starter.

Despite TD's the offense played great Ben throwing for 322 yards and only missing 10 passes. And parker coming up big with 115 Rushing yards on 25 carries.

Ben lead this team and without the Penalties and field position could have easily had 2-3 offensive TD's.

James Harrison is the team MVP coming up with a Sack Safety and INT tonight, and for the most part again the defense held their ground with Bryant and Gay doing a great job against this good passing team.

A win is a win and the Steelers got it tonight. The offense is back and the Defense is typical, now we need the rest of the team to heal up and finish the season strong!

Over that of the stupid penalties, I saw a few things that I liked in today's game.

#1 = Reestablishing Our Run Game!
#2 = Protecting The Ball
#3 = Clock Management
#4 = Balance play between our O & D during the later parts of the game

These are four elements that have worked for us in the past, and its good to see them making their way back into Steeler style football.
Good and MUCH needed win today! Baltimore has a tuffy next week. We have what is "considered" an easy, but the kittens are on a high after managing a tie with Philly. They would like nothing better than to play spoiler on Thursday night. Get rid of the dumb penalties, and bring the same style of play that was shown today, and a win over Kittens should be well within reach.

We won! And were damn lucky to do so! Unimpressed with our offense. Not wining much more than a division (hopefully) with that kind of O

I think the penalties nearly cost us the game. Hines had 3 by himself! WTF!

:drink: to the D.

We better spend all the money on the Oline and a kick returner this draft.

Yeah, no question, we could have done without the stupid penalties that "could" have cost us.
BUT

Guys, you really have to observe the not so obvious but much effective.

Again look at the Steelers offensive play characteristics that returned in today's game

#1 = Reestablishing Our Run Game!
#2 = Protecting The Ball
#3 = Clock Management
#4 = Balance play between our O & D during the later parts of the game

Now, since you can remember, when have you really seen a super charged high scoring Pittsburgh Steelers Offense in recent years? Even in our recent superbowl / AFC Championship years, it was rare to see our Steelers Off racking up major offensive points. Hell, ANY time we score 28 offensive points or above, I try to write it down for record keeping..lol
Our offense is noted for its low scoring...BUT its also noted for being one of the best at the first 3 of the 4 characteristics mentioned above. Re-read the 3 and it spells "Smashmouth Football"...On the offensive side of the L.O.S., this WINS ball games for it keeps Defenses ON the field and Offenses OFF the field. This is one our BEST defenses when playing teams with super charged, high scoring offenses. Keep that Offense off the field for as long as possible to kill score threat. Its the Basic blue collar style of football that has worked for our Steelers for years.

It was a win in spite of bitter reality,..and in truth,....that's what makes it all the more worthwhile.

This game is a new NFL record. The only game to end with an 11-10 score. :joker:

It's all good. Phil is still the truth. Your team just faced a will of Steel. Our Defense was not going to allow anyone to have a "W" against us today.:helmet::drink:

11 to 10 is not a record, just a first.

I didn't get see anything but the second quarter, what happened? From what I saw from the in game highlights, it looked like our offense was moving the ball effectively. Why couldn't we get in the endzone?

penalties, dropped passes by Nate to kill drive on 3rd and 5, and once we were inches away from scoring and they stopped us on 4th down. I hate to make excuses but we dominated that game. We didn't execute on a few key plays and that kept us out of end zone. I was similar to Colts game in a way. We just cant put teams away and if you let them hang in there is always a chance they will win. Ben and Willie as well as the D were solid and in the end we did execute when we had to so I see the game as a success.

Wasn't a pretty win but it counts in the W column. Hopefully the staff sees how effective the short check-down passes are and use them more often. Also, Russell was fantastic on the short yard plays, so hopefully they use him a lot for that instead of Moore, who is more of a screen kind of guy. Spaeth really stepped it up as well, Ward was Ward, and the D was beastly. On the negative, Nate had a couple balls he should have caught and of course the refs. Thank god for a short week, I can't wait to see some Bengal-stomping. :tt02:
