If you were the Steelers this offseason, Who would you take in your first three rounds? It shouldn't be too hard, just do a little research

Round 1 - Lendale White RB USC - For the same reasons everyone's been talking about drafting this kid. He's a power runner, Bettis is getting up there, Duce is always injured, and the Steelers need to get back to their kind of football game

Round 2 - Mike Degory C Florida - 6'6", 296 lbs. and they say he has the potential to get bigger and stronger. He'd also boost our O-Line and definately make an impact

Roudn 3 - Clinton Solomon WR Iowa - 6'3" 195 pounds, I keep trying to find out where he might get drafted, because I've seen him listed as high as the 7th WR in the draft, to the 20th. Anyways, he's a deep threat for Ben who could do well in the next level.

i'd take lendale white first round for sure, and then i'll just co-sign your other 2 picks cause i don't start reading up on prospects till after the season so i have no idea who would be good at number 2 and 3

Round 1: LenDale White – RB - USC (6-2 & 235lbs) Basically the same reasons you list. I think we have a big need for a power RB next year. From what I hear the draft won’t have many power backs this year and all the more reason to go after LenDale in the 1st.

Round 2: Martin Nance – WR – Miami of Ohio (6-5 & 210lbs) I think we need to bring a tall receiver in to give Ben another big guy to throw to and open up the field. I like Nance’s size and from what I’ve read about him he is very physical. Also think it doesn’t hurt that him and Ben have some history together.

OR

Round 2: Hank Baskett – WR – New Mexico (6-4 & 220lbs) Baskett is another tall receiver I like. Another very physical guy. Has very good leaping ability from what I have read he was Mountain West Conference outdoor high jump champion.

Round 3: Mike DeGory – C – Florida (6-6 & 296lbs) JerseySTEEL brought this guy up in another thread and I have liked what I have read about him. He is very durable and is a very good pass protector. With Jeff Hartings nearing the end of the road I think he is worth a look.

Steelers might go DE in the third, but not sure who I would want yet. Darryl Tapp has a lot of positives, but still not sure.

I heard Lendale said he wanted to stay his senior year after the UCLA game.

yeah i heard that too, but they always say that, he knows he won't be able to pass up money and risk staying and getting hurt in college. BE SMART LENDALE, ENTER THE DRAFT DAMN IT!! plus they are gonna suck next year with no reggie and no matt so there is no point in risking anything for nothing

That would make things interesting. Not too many big backs out there this draft atleast thats what I hear. I have been hoping for us to draft LenDale this offseason for a while.

Well prosdo u have that wrong theres a bunch of big backs we can get late if white doesn't declare. White saying he won't is the same as Bush saying he wont lol they have no idea until after there bowl game.

NCAA | White 50-50 on turning pro

Phil Collin, of the Daily Breeze, reports USC RB LenDale White has not made up his mind if he will head to the 2006 NFL Draft. "Right now, it's 50-50,'' the junior running back said. "I feel like right now, the task at hand is to win another championship before I leave.'' While White was home in Denver, he and family members formed what he called an "advisory team'' to explore his value if he left USC. White knows, even before he hears it from head coach Pete Carroll, that the road ahead in his decision-making process is fraught with risks.

Michael Bush, Louisville (6'3" 250) Late 2nd to 3rd round.

Gerald Riggs Jr Tennessee (6'0" 220) got hurt this year so we could get him in the late 3rd.

Mike Bell Arizona (6'0" 220) Late 3rd to 4th.

Just some backs we could look at late.

Yes koopa they all are worth a dam after the 1st round. Bush has good foot work and has more speed then most big backs. while riggs has avg speed but can push the pile, is compared to jamel lewis (before his injury).Bell i havent watched yet but i hear he has nice speed with power and theres about 3-4 more guys we could get but thses 3 are more our style.

cool, as much as i want lendale there might be bigger needs for a first round draft pick, so maybe it would be better to draft one of these backs in the second or third and let him learn behind duce and willie for a year and then start plugging him to get more carries the next following season.

True but what spot would go in the 1st then? for me theres only 2 spots i could see us going in the first for RB and DE. OC always go in the 2nd so a 1st rounder for a C is not even on the coachs minds. But when FA hits things may change so its a guessing game now.

hmmmmm.....i don't know, never mind what i said i kinda meant to say if lendale ain't available then just wait to the third or fourth whenever it's better to draft one of these backs. if lendale is there i think i'd be pretty pissed off if we pass up on him. i'm not to worried about a DE yet we can resign kimo and draft a decent DE late and groom him for a year. i want a back that can take over now. and lendale is that back IMO
