Parker "tweaked" the knee he had hurt in the third week of the season, coach Mike Tomlin said. Wide receiver Santonio Holmes sustained a concussion after he was drilled on a catch over the middle. A knee injury sustained by defensive end Brett Keisel is potentially serious, Tomlin said.

"When somebody's laying on the ground and they're checking their knee it's not a good thing," Tomlin said.
Tomlin said the team will address its punting situation, which means there could be a change. Paul Ernster struggled for the second consecutive game and after he averaged 28.4 yards per punt. Tomlin said that aspect of special teams was "horrible."

Looked like Santo will be back and ready next weekend, while Parker could be out a week or 2 and Keisel's injury could be serious/season end which would be a blow to the defensive line.
Ernster hopefully will be gone before the game against the Pats.

Well, that's about as good as we could've hoped for given the circumstances.

I hate to sound callous, but if we had to lose one of our defensive linemen, at least it was the one we can sort of replace. Losing Smith last season absolutely killed us, and I'd be worried without Hampton as well. They're both unique talents that you can't just go grab someone off the bench to fill in for. But if our line was Smith-Hampton-Hoke, that doesn't have me quite as worried.

Parker ... whatever. The depth would be nice, but he's played like crap in half his games this year. We'll be fine.

As for Ernster, just releasing him is too kind. He should be executed. Or at least instead of kneeling down to run out the clock last night, they should've put him in at WR for a play and thrown him a couple of telegraphed high passes over the middle. That's about what you'd need as payback for a stink bomb of a performance like that.

If keisel is gone for the season it'd be sad, but the backups should be able to get the job done

Hopefully it's just a few weeks though. Tough year for him with injuries

parker has been good when he was healthy.. hes a year removed from almost being the nfl rushing leader if it wasnt for a broken leg.. and 2 years removed from scoring 17 touchdowns. he didnt suddenly get old overnight either, he still has a lot left in the tank from not playing in college and just turned 28.

Yeah, and his yards/YPC in the games he's played this year go:

138 / 5.5
105 / 3.8
20 / 1.5
70 / 3.3
115 / 4.6
37 / 2.6

So whether I'm a Parker hater or not, he literally has played like crap in half the games this year.

If we pull out anything CLOSE to a deep playoff run this year with ALL the injuries we had, it will be nothing short of a miracle.

other teams have it much, much worse. anything but a super bowl is a disappointment with this team.

Losing Kiesel will be a big blow. That one really hurts.

Parker doesn't hurt as much since MeMo's been playing well. Hopefully it's just a small tweak though and he gets back to 100% in time for the playoffs.

Santo just got busted. Ain't nuthin' else to say about that.

If Ernester gets released and ever sets a foot back in Pittsburgh, I think the fans will mug him before he can make it to the field. :chuckle:

We should be ok with Moore but I just hope he don't get an injury then we might be in trouble with Parker on the sideline.

Look around the league...our injury problems are not so big a deal compared to some other teams.

Hate to say it but it's true

at the beggining of the season maybe, but now there are teams having to find guys off the street. Look at the broncos for example

Still, we don't have the luck of the titans and dolphins

Both those teams needed some luck, I really don't think either of them are as good as they are showing right now.
