View Full Version : Hasselbeck calls Roethlisberger a girl

Hey all...just found the forum and figured I'd join the fun. Recently moved to Dallas, so I've felt out of the lop with Steelers talk.

And for my first post I am calling a loser for being a loser. And Matt Hasselbeck (as he proved in the Super Bowl) is a loser.

Came across a story that he called Ben Roethlisberger a girl. Really? How lame. Here is the story if you're interested (written by another loser...a Browns fan. Ha!):

Hasseldork calls Big Ben a loser (http://www.midwestsportsfans.com/2008/12/matt-hasselbeck-calls-ben-roethlisberger-a-girl/)

I am wondering what words we can think of describe Hasselbeck? Girl would be too much of a compliment...

and, just for reference, how many posts until I'm not longer a water boy? That looks to lame next to my name!

FWIW-I remember that '05 season-the game we played against them in midseason was gut wrenching. We pretty much beat them up physically throughout at Qwest Field, but some bad playcalling in the red zone AND a missed chip shot by our kicker opened the doors for a miracle comeback at the end for them(with 2 minutes to go, they engineered a drive to tie it a minute and a half or so later, then Bledsoe threw a pick at the end of regulation that set up their game winning 50 yarder).

Otherwise, I'm not sure the Hawks would have gone to the Super Bowl-prior to our game with them, there were pretty mediocre, but that game just turned their season around in a big way.

Anyhow-the Hawks are lucky to be in a very, very, very bad division. Hassellbeck and most of their other players like Alexander are just merely good(at best), and their D is pint-sized, but it's more than enough for them to churn out 11-12 wins + 1st round bye.

"We'll receive. And we're gonna score!" (Hasselbeck during an OT coin toss in a 2003 WC game against the Packers - right before he threw a pick-six to lose the game and end Seattle's season.)

Once a tool, always a tool. :coffee:

You need 50 posts to move up in "rank" from "water boy." Welcome to the board.

I'd forgotten about the OT guarantee before I saw that video again. Classic. He will never live that down.

Thats funny coming from him of all people.

Matt Hassel(broke)back always struck me as being a a sissy boy. Sounds like he has a hard on for Ben.

That Clows fan is so jealous. We have outselves a franchise quarterback who has won a Championship...the Browns don't even know what they have and are heading for another rebuild.

Actually, is it called rebuilding when you've never actually built anything in the first place?

After watching some of his Expedia.commmmm commercials, :rocket: I wouldn't say he's too masculine himself. Maybe just more of a dork. Like peyton manning. But I think peyton plays to that and comes across funny. At least he has accepted it.

BTW, the browns fans and media must be tired of bashing their own qb's at this point to even dig for a story like this. :coffee:

Just another blogger posting crap.

The one thing I do remember is super bowl 41 week and both Hasselbeck and Hines Ward were on NFL network promoting their charities......Hines flashed the SBXL ring at Matt and it was almost a bit tasteless how he rubbed the salt in, but at least he didnt start crying like the rest of the cryhawks did.

He is a typical whining beantowner. Couldnt get it done in the big game so he will cry about it for the next century. Blame some one else. Wah Wah Wah

I think she said "And we're gonna scaw" not the typical "score" that the rest of the english speaking countries use.

I'm not sure what the big deal is . . . yeah it was a joke that was probably in poor taste, but as far as Seahawks go, Hasselbeck always seemed like a decent enough guy, and at least he was doing some charity work.

Now Mike Holmgren . . . different story.

It was a joke.

I mean, how can Ben take it seriously anyway, he's playing this week at 9-3 against the 8-4 Cowboys.

Matt is listed as Doubtful against the Patriots.

Who's the real "girl" here?

If you read the whole article, Hasselbeck immediately says he was joking and obviously was just kidding around. No big deal. However, it is Exhibit A of how any pro athlete can't say anything in jest in public, because it's going to be taken out of context - even at an event like this. The unfortunate end result is the jock - clichés we get from players that amount to zero information from a typical interview. Maybe if fans and the media didn't jump all over these guys for every little thing they say, then the players would be a bit more likely to tell us what they really think, and give us more insight to what's really going on.

So Hasslechump is just saying: "Yeah, even if the Steelers put in Hanna Montana at quarterback, we still would have gotten our asses handed to us" It's been 3 years, you'd think they'd accept defeat already

The guys sister-in-law is a co-host on "The View" and she is actually the most annoying one which is a more difficult accomplishment than winning the Superbowl, Matt should walk around with his head down and only shrug his shoulders if ever asked anything until that show is cancelled or Elizabeth Hasselbeck is fired.

Why am I not surprised that we disagree again? Elizabeth gets a bad rap IMO. And she's hot!!

I agree she's hot, she gets a bad rap because she's a conservative republican chickenhawk. The problem is that Barbara Walters and ABC pay her to be one to add spice to the show.

That's so true how she gets a bad rap. Even my wife hates her for no reason. She speaks her mind and stands up to the liberals.

It's like a reality show though, she does it cause she's paid to do it. She's paid to be the villain on the show and fabricates how much of a conservative republican chickenhawk she really is, if she really even is one to begin with. She takes it to the extreme and it's obvious she does it for ABC's ratings, not because she's standing up to anyone. If a liberal says the earth is round, she'll say it's flat just to disagree with a liberal and shout out to the world, "I am hot bimbo conservative, hear me roar." It's irritating. I bet she doesn't spend 1 single second off-camera day discussing politics. And the only research she does is strictly for the show.

She's to "The View" what Skip Bayless is to "Cold Pizza," fake scripted Villain for more ratings. It's no coincidence they both work for ABC.

I'm not upset about it and I bet neither is Ben. But then, that depends on his relationship with Matt. If they're friends, he's laughing. If not..........

Let's reverse the situation. If Ben had opened his trap and said the same about Matt, there's people here that would be crucifying him. And so would the media. No one would be giving him a pass by saying it was a joke, even if it was.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winnah! I'm surprised nobody has jumped his shit yet regarding the "he's asking for it" comment when asked if he "envied" Romo.

This surprises me, but doesn't at the same time. Hasselputz needs to shut his piehole and worry about his own team (possibly, his own career, with his bad back and all).

I think Hasslebeck is a good guy. I just hope he has a good relationship with Ben. If the only connection they have is threw the Superbowl, and he was only saying it to rile up the Seahawks fans again, then it was in poor taste.

But I do agree with others about how if it was Ben saying those things, he would be crucified. Unfair in my book.
