Its obvious that the O needs a new spark. How about maybe using Dennis Dixon as a Slash role? Discuss

the kid has MAD skill...but he has yet to prove anything in the regular season. with Leftwich in 2dn string, there is really no use for him quite yet. but hell, why not give him a shot at some trick plays and maybe some short screens or blast him out as a wide reciever. it'd be nice if we can use our weapons since we lost our main one in the regualr season. (Mendenhall).

i like that idea homie. for real.

I think that's a good idea in concept, but with Ben playing hurt and Lefty being our only tested and reliable backup at this point, I think I'd like to see Dixon concentrate more on his QB skills.

Im not saying that he needs to be QB, but he obviously has mad skill like you said so why not the slash role maybe bring back the gadget play like we had with Randel El

Unpredictability is a force multiplier and our offense has moved away from that.

Agreed, but shouldnt we try to get some of that back? I mean at least for the playoffs, our offense will probly need something like that unless the o-line shows up for those games

i was just going to post something like this. why dont we activate dixon to throw some gadget plays in. or at least use him as a decoy. maybe they are waiting for the playoffs?? i thought we would see a lot more of dixon...

Good thought but the steelers would have to activate him. Being the emergency QB, saves a roster spot for someone. unless ben or lefty are deactivated , you wont see dixon this year.

MAN, I've been telling anyone that will listen to me the same thing about using Dixon....I asked the question weeks ago on here, WHERE IS THE "TRICK PLAY"....I mean cmon, when the O is bogged down and struglin', why not try SOMETHING, just to loosen the opposing D up, or at least give them something to at least think about when they are watching film on the Steelers....Ummm, didn't a gadget play, ummm, all but win us the last Super Bowl....Man, I miss Randle El, the guy gave the other team a bunch t worry about every time he touched the ball, and Dixin could be our "new Randle El"....The guy has a TON of TALENT, he's an INCREDIBLE athlete, I mean, I think they should at least be considering using this guy in that kind of roll, and when the drafted him, that's exactly what I thought this guy was going to be, our "new Randle El", and he still might be, but with the O strugglin', I think he should at least looked at as an option for SOMETHIN', JMO.

i think the steelers rly rly want to use him in some plays but they don't want to make him the number 2 qb since he is a rookie and prob not 2 comfortable w/ the off yet while having bryon at 3, which then make sure ben not coming back in the game

I agree absolutely we need to get some of that back, but I don't think that a personnel change is the best way to get it. We can get the same effect with the crew we've got just by a change in play calling.

That would be the best way to do it obviously, i just think that dixon could be quite a threat
