Baltimore Ravens (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=bal) coach John Harbaugh said he doesn't believe Pittsburgh Steelers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=pit) punter Mitch Berger (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=619) when he says Ravens cornerback Frank Walker (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4665) spit in Berger's face during Sunday's game, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Berger said he confronted Walker after what Berger thought was a blatant attempt to go after kicker Jeff Reed (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4399)'s knee on an extra-point attempt.
Berger was quoted in The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette after the game as saying, "I tried to get in the middle to separate him, but he got in my face and spit right in my mouth. He spit right in my mouth. I'm still trying to spit that ... out. I was talking to him, trying to separate everybody and he spit right in my mouth."
During his weekly news conference, Harbaugh said, "That's the first I heard that. I don't believe it for one second," according to the Sun. "Frank Walker wouldn't do it, none of our players would do it. I don't believe it for one second."

you just gave up a 92 yard td drive and lost the division, so you take it out on the punter? lame.

on another note, ray lewis looks like he's going to an alice cooper concert in that stupid facepaint.

Obviously I have no concrete evidence if you will. And this is just my opinion, but if you watch the end of the game again and focus on the pushing by Reed, Berger in no way is acting like someone who just got spit on. In fact Berger is laughing.

And why in the hell would Berger make the spitting incident up. Something happened to cause the little melee after the extra point. I would expect this type of response from Harbaugh. He has to stick up for his players. But he is kidding himself if he thinks Frank Walker would just come out and tell him he spit on Mitch Berger.

What happened was Walker dove at Reed's legs, trying to injure him. That is what caused the melee.

Maybe the spitting was accidental ala Cowher?

The coach of the Ravens making a blanket character guarantee is laughable though.

Yeah, how long does he know the Ratbirds? How long has he been coaching Walker? :coffee: That jack*ss been with Giants 4 seasons & Packers 1 season. There is gotta be a reason.

I watched the replay of the game and Berger was seemed like he was laughing like hitman said

Maybe he is lying. Not pointing the finger at our punter, but it seems easier to invent something like that to me. Harbaugh is just saying what he believes about his player, no need to put the heat on him

jus my opinion

Oh that's right, sorry I forgot about the diving at Reed's leg incident. Thanks for confirming.
