Was anyone else aware of his studdering problem? I'm not trying to bring him down in any way, but what an inspirtation. It was kinda sad when he was interviewed after the game.

It happens... I was a VERY bad stutterer.

Now... well, I feel very comfortable speaking in front of a crowd... though I still have problems at times.

eh, it didn't seem like that much of a problem to me, he seemed mostly exhausted.

In the beginning, you could tell that he was trying to take his time to make sure he didn't studder (and he was exhausted) but he did when he smiled. I heard he took speech classes in college. What an inspiration though.

I didn't really notice it very much... one time when I worked at a newspaper, there was this one reporter who had a horrible stuttering problem. It got in the way of her interviewing people all the time. Except when she got mad; then she would yell at you clear as day. What a weird thing to have.

I had a friend like that. Not being mean, but it was hilarious. A normal 10 minute conversation would take 25-30 with him, but he could go off on you with absolutley no problems.

As for Sproles, I didn't realize it and I was at work after the game. I might watch the soundbytes later. I like Sproles a lot, so I hope it doesn't keep him from doing interviews in the future.

I hope he "stutter steps" when the Bolts come here to play next weekend so the Steelers D can crush him like a grape. :tt03:

I noticed Sproles stutters a bit but he seems like a really nice young man. God Bless him for overcoming his disability and making something of himself! :applaudit:

I felt terrible for him in the interview. You could tell he didn't want to be there.

My grandfather has a BAD problem. The Army made him a drill instructor during WWII.

It made for some funny stories, but he was constantly nervous about it.

some clown posted a video on youtube of him struggling through an interview back in college. he does have a speech impediment and people that try to exploit that or make fun of it deserve to have their nuts chopped off.

Thanks, guys...I appreciate your candor and your sensitivity. Other fan forums have not been so kind to his condition, although it was probably because he burned their team on the field.

Of course, we have NO problem if you end up calling him a #*$*$#!! after he burns your D or Sp Teams a few times...

Partly. Although he is documented as having the speech disorder.

No reason to close it. At least the majority of the posters in this thread have some sensitivity towards the man and don't find it funny poking fun at his unfortunate (and obviously embarrassing to him) disability.

Sure I call Romeo fat because he IS. Until I read documentation that he is overweight because of a medical condition, I have to assume he is a chubster because he CHOOSES to be. A good diet, exercise and 5 less cheeseburgers per day would go a long way in helping him to lose weight. His heart would thank him for it.

Everyone knows Tom Brady isn't gay. Again - if he WAS gay, it would be because he chose that sexual orientation. He chooses to play dikkie dunk with women and again, that's his preference.

Darren Sproles has had a speech impediment (a special needs disorder) since he was a small child. Making fun of his disability, or anyone else's disability for that matter, is not only ignorant but downright cruel.

I am 100% sure that when Mike created this board and specifically - the Blast Furnace - his intentions were not to make it open game for making fun of others' misfortunes. There was a former member here who made fun of my cancer because I dared to disagree with him. I didn't ban him - MIKE DID. Instead of making fun of the man, give him props that despite his disability, he attended and graduated from college and is fulfilling his dream.

But it's okay for you to use term like "stutter step" in here, but I can't make comment in the BLAST FURNACE. Okay, I see how it is. Will you condemn your own statement as you have condemned mine?

So is it also okay for me to make fun of people with cancer until I see documentation that proves they really have cancer? I am sorry HTG but that just doesn't make sense. It's a matter of opinion weather or not gay people have a choice. And when you joke about Brady being gay doesn't that make light of all gay people?

1st in kick coverage, 3rd in punt coverage. He should be more worried than us. But yeah the kid is a scary guy in the open field :jawdrop:

I agree the kid is scary in the special team area.

NO - I most certainly will NOT condemn my own statement as it was not intended to take a poke at this man's disability.

As far as my cancer is concerned - people who know me in real life on this board (and there are several) know that I've had 2 bouts of cancer since 1996. Don't you EVEN go there.

Apples and oranges on the Tom Brady "gay" issue. I am one of hundreds of posters - some of whom are pals of yours on this board - who have made the "Tom Brady is gay" statement knowing full well, as I do, that he isn't and AGAIN - IF HE WAS GAY - that is HIS PREFERENCE. We are going to have to agree to disagree on the "choice" issue.

I'm done arguing with you. You have your opinion and I have mine but let me make it perfectly clear that poking fun at another person's disability - be it another member, an opposing team's fan or a Steelers opponent - WILL NOT BE TOLERATED on this board. Period.

I think we all know what you were getting at when you put quotes around those two words "stutter step". Why else would you put quotes around those words. But what ever. I would never poke fun at you for your disease ever. I was only trying to prove that what you were saying about Romeo is BS. How is everyone supposed to know what everyone elses ailments are. They are usually kept very private. So if Romeo does have a problem it may just be hidden from us all. He could have a thyroid problem right?

And I don't see you publicly chastising Tony for his comments in this thread.

Well no one else better not ever call me or anyone else on this board a retard or a moron or an idiot ever again. Cause I have a special needs cousin. Deal? You see the can of worms that has been opened.

I don't give a rat's ass what you or anyone else thinks about my reference to a stutter step. Two people know how that reference was intended - myself and my Maker - and that's good enough for me. But whatever.

I think everyone here knows what your intentions were/are with regard to the comments you made. Your comments, and those of a couple of others, were not only offensive to me but to others, as both mine and Gary's PM boxes indicate.

Romeo Crennel is a high profile person being a (former) NFL coach. If he had a medical ailment, I'm quite sure it would have been publicized by now and someone would have read about, as Darren Sproles' ailment has been publicized.

I didn't publicly "chastize" Tony because like the gentleman he is - he didn't belabor the issue when he realized others were offended. (Thank you Tony).

Remember - "special needs" includes speech impediments.

Yet another one....actually, i was poking fun at the OP who wished to bring light to sproles appearant problem, but couldnt even spell it correctly himself.

kinda like trying to pull a splinter out of someones eye while they have a log in their own.

i have never heard sproles stutter and i thought he spoke well after the game. if he does have that disability, its one i would never rip him for. ripping him for being shorter than estelle getty is a different story though.

mostly i find it disturbing that my perfectly good "steelers breakfast cereal" thread was crashed and burned before i even had a chance to have a bit of fun in it.

it had nothing to do with darren (who i have already given his props on this board).
