NBC's Jerome Bettis takes it straight down the middle as usual. Here are some of the Bus' takes

-- Bettis says his former coach Bill Cowher wants to join a team with a solid quarterback when he comes back. That will be a huge factor. Bettis said that Cowher regretted spending so many years in Pittsburgh without a true QB.

-- Dan asked Bettis if Cowher would consider Denver, with Jay Cutler. Bettis said the Broncos throw too much and wouldn't fit Cowher's offensive philosophy. Bettis says Cowher would have to make too many personnel changes to make that work.

-- Bettis said Brett Favre helped the Jets. He gave them an identity. Bettis said he didn't perform as well as he would have a few years ago.

-- Dan asked Bettis the poll question, which home team does he like the most this weekend. Bettis chose the Chargers.

-- Dan and Bettis also talked about his alma mater Notre Dame. Bettis said he still has faith in Charlie Weis and wants him back. Bettis says fans need to be more patient with Weis. Bus says it takes a few years of recruiting to catch up with the other big programs.

True insider?

you have to wonder why he isn't taking more of an interest in Denver. Cutler, clady, royal and marshall. Those are some good weapons. I can't think of any other job that could even open up next year with a quarterback as good as cutler

It wouldn't shock me.

Having to draft a franchise QB is such a crapshoot. The Steelers got lucky with Ben. Eli was almost a draft bust. There are normally more Ryan Leafs out there than Peyton Mannings.
