First TD against Steelers...

Besides the Offensive PI that wasn't called... It was just a beautiful pass. We have to be careful of the PA though.

There is a good mix of 3 WR/ I formation. Second half. there are quite a bit of 3 wides. . . but when they actually RUN, it is still a lot more of a mix.

So far, it seems split about 50 50 in the run plays in the first drive.

Willie isn't following his lead blocker in the I much. But that I is coming out quite a bit... The mix up of the two is sure allowing Willie to run quite a bit.

I have to wonder about ALL the run calls in a row... we are going to need a mix.

Ben's arm seems a bit strong right now! :chuckle: Second half, 11:21 mark... Ben BARELY misses Holmes on a bomb. That pass was 53 yards IN THE AIR. with a LOT of air under it for Holmes to get there. With practice this week, timing just a tad better, that should be 7 points. Oops, that was from the center of the field almost to the sideline (about 15 feet away), so make that about a 60+ yard pass.

Ben seemed to have a little backpin on that punt! It bounced back and died!

Ben seems very dead on with his passes right now. Also looks like he is playing very smart.

Play at the end of the half that Ben missed on... WOW.. Santo has the moves... Ben just overthroew him. The line really held... there really wasn't a pocket. More of a pointed arrow. WOW!

Next play, Ben Comes Back.. Ben hits Ward... LONG pass. yet the LIne kept the guys off Ben. WOW. There wasn't even a pocket... there was still a LINE! Dang, whos O line is this? Colon has his guy turned inside drunning up the back of Hargwig's guy.. Jamming them both up. Starks literally STONED his guy. the guys entire body rocked backwards. Then he passed him off and took a guy stunting outside.. he almost got to Ben, but by that time, Ward had enoug time to get what, 40 yards downfield?

Our D. on the run is unbelievable. I don't know if ANYONE can run on us right now.

However, Woodley doesnt seem to be able to handle the pass protection of the better receiving TE's (gates).

On pass, Our D really has made a combination of that Tampa 2/fire blitz combo.

Except for that first pass, all Steelers are coming UP to tackle, not running to catch up.

BTW, Eason was playing on the down where we got our first sack. Interesting.

Hampton is in the backfield like there is a Big Mac and Whopper there just calling his name!

All this stuff about troys calf... Naa... He still looks FAST. Second half, on the INT, a camera showed Troy coming up to also go for the ball... it looked like he was planting and pushing HARD with both legs.

SACKS...

Wettle came in on the outside. The RDE took on Kemo and Starks. Hartwig was keeping an eye on the left side for anyone breaking through.

Moore got beat clean. He took a step up to stop anyone coming up the middle, but CB came around the side and and beat him cleanly.

If Moore had gotten that block, the CB coming up the other side would have been levled by hartwig and Simmons. Colon had complete control of his guy... interestingly.

They rushed had six on the line, one just off... they dropped 3 back and four rushed. If MeMo woulda picked up the block, there would have been no sack.
___________________________________

Part of the reason for no sacks... is quick releases to the TE and MeMo.

Wow. Third down play, early in second half. Looks like a CB coming up on a blitz again. . . MeMo stamped OWNED right on the guys jersey, drove him about 7 yards past Ben.

______________

I hate to say this... but I think the reason our line was SO good... is because the D only rushed 4 guys mainly. The Line wasn't exposed to a lot of large blitzes.

Davis just isn't fast enough to be a third down back. Memo had better learn to pick up the blocks... because we need him on third downs.

Steelers fans need to shut up when Ben comes up to take the snap. Dang. the crowd was starting to bet loud.

Willie jsut looks FAST right now. He is also moving... shoulders square to the endzone, and bouncing to the outside. eyes are forward when he bounces. He is starting to view pretty well.

Willie isn't hitting guys and sitting down, He is now spinning looking for the second and third effort.

Hey UFN, Other talking about Willie... I think this may have been teh issue this year. Willie's Knee disallowed him to spin out for the smaller hole that opens. He is able to do so now.

5:35 in the left in the 3rd Q. Remember when they were talking about Willie stutter stepping, and he got around the player and made a decent gain? Nope. He actually stepped on Ben's foot! He gained his balance. Then took off.

On that reverse in the third where Ben throws a good block... Colon comes out to the outside..... lead blocking somewhat. Someone REALLY has to teach him how to block downfield if he is going to come out like that  The guy he hit sure felt it though!

Sproles long punt return. . . I blame Timmons.

timmons came in an BLEW UP A BLOCKER However, by going directly for the hit and nothing else, he allowed Sproles to pick a lane in the middle of the field, instead of dealing with two big bodies in front of him that may have slowed him down a bit. Hopefully, Timmons will be just a bit more aware of the guy with the ball as well. I know I know... wedge busting.. or taking out the blocker. But honestly... it hurt this time. Even when Sproles made his cut, Timmons came up and hit the blocker who was now BEHIND Sproles.

Yep. I noticed the look on Ben's face. he was TICKED.

It was two downs in a row from what I can remember. Both times they showed players signaling the crowd to chill out. I was surprised tbh. It's not like Steelers fans to do something like that. They couldn't help but sense the endzone I guess :tt02:

FInal conclusion , ,

Ravens do not have NEARLY the weapons that the Chargers have. If our offense keeps up the way they played this week. . . It is going be a good solid game for us.

I think in the second half, we should walk away with the game. 14 to 21 points over the Ravens is my guess now!

I must be remembering that play wrong. I thought our guy was going to get flagged...I believe it was Ike Taylor? Was he the guy in coverage? I remember thinking..WOW, what a GREAT catch, especially since our guy was tugging on the receiver's arm. It was a beauty of a pass though...perfectly thrown.

Yep, that's the play.

Actually, when you watch it again, you see the offensive player basically giving an arm bar which is why Ike couldn't get his hands up to knock the ball away.

It WAS beautifully thrown though.. and the WR played it smart. Can't blame him for taking the chance. It paid off well.

Definitely not a smart decision by Timmons to focus on the blocker and not Sproles. Sproles was such a threat Timmons should have been concentrating more on taking him out or, as you stated, at least slowing him down. Hopefully Tomlin or someone else on the sidelines pointed this out to him and it won't happen in the future.

Go Steelers!! :tt03::tt03:
