I agree. I don't want there to be anything for the talking heads to review or speculate about. Whoever wins, I really hope it is conclusive and undisputed. Hopefully the refs will have their "A" game on. They haven't had it much this year, so maybe the playoffs are a good time to break it out!

Yea, me too, but one thing I can say for certain, I do not enjoy watching my team get beat. I don't care how much of a classic it is. Give me bad form and a win over good form and a loss any day of the week.

Prediction? No kidding, if it's a nailbiter and we pul it out close, great. I really don;t want another cardiac event like liast week, but with our D looking as worn out as they were last week, I'd be happy with it.

I heard Mike Pereira on NFL Network a few weeks back say that up through the Division games they assign the Officials as a group, but once the Championship games come around, they assign an "Allstar" group from various squads. Hopefully the officiating will prove better.

While I like Hoculi (or however you spell it) I was amazed to see him working the post season. Especially after his call in the Chargers / Broncos game. But here's hoping the NFL gets a good group together. I mean they missed a pretty big one last weekend with the whole delay of game thing on us. I don't think that is why the Titans lost the game, but it is still something that shouldn't happen.

Not to pullute the Steelers board if you guys will forgive me, but they also missed a safety and screwed up either a spot or loss of down all on the same drive. Tenn has no right to complain. Take a look:

I think this will be a game in which the Steelers win by more than a 4 points.

Steelers - 31
Ravens - 17

Going into the 4th quarter the Score will be 24 Steelers - 10 for the Ravens.

Game will be close going into the half 14-7 Steelers.

31-17 Steelers.

After watching both games again, I think we take control in the second half. 10-10 in the first have, then we put up 21 unanswered points. The we play the LeBeau "trade some yards and points for clock time" and give up a TD late to the Ravens.

I have watched Flacco play 5 to 6 times this year and haven't seen many consistent drives by him. Yes he is good for an occasional big play usually by Mason a couple by Clayton. I don't think that will get it done this week. I am not saying he is crap, he has strong arm with very pretty tight spiral and he is kind of like Ben in a way as far as scrambling. I think this game we finally get up early in game and it forces Flacco to throw more. Score wise it won't be blowout because we will try and run in second half. I think we go in at halftime 14-3 and win 27-13. I realize the first two games were won on last drive of game by us but I don't see us letting them hang in the game this time. Mason is the only guy who I see hurting us, he is way underrated. Ed Reed can obviously hurt us on D but I think Ben will be well aware of where he is on the field.

Im gonna go with a modest score....17-6 Steelers. Im thinking itll be a 3-3 game until we intercept Flacco and Willie takes it in. Then Ben will find Heath over the middle and Hines opens the door for the clincher with a knock out shot to Reed.

Actually, the "hard to beat a team three times" is just stupid media stat speak. Some guy said in a chat this week to Ed Bouchette"Ed, the Steelers are 5-0 when I fall asleep drunk on my couch the night before" when talking about the stupid trends the media comes up with.

Consider a Roulette table in Vegas, even if a red number came up ten times in a row, the very next spin still has the same chance of hitting red or black...it is a new spin each time and the odds don't change.

My head is saying it'll be close, Steelers 21 Ravens 17, (with the obligatory 4th quarter Steeler comeback!) but my heart keeps shouting shut-out, Steelers 38 Ravens 0.

But considering my head isn't really in the game, so to speak, at the moment (if you'd have seen what it suggested I put my money down on the New Years Day Horse Racing, you'd understand!), I'll have to go with my heart this time.

Plus, I don't think my heart can't take another 4th Quarter comeback just yet, so it's time to ease the workload it's had to endure recently - Shut the Ratties out by halftime, and it'll breathe easier. Shut them out by end of game, and there will be no stopping it..............hopefully.

You really think we are going to put up 31 points against the #2 defense in football? Even though 2 of their best players are not playing(Rolle is out/Suggs..not sure), it is not as though the rest of their players are scrubs! Those turnovers in the Titans game didn't just 'happen', they were caused by great pressure from the D and hard, intense hitting. They are a very talented football team or they would not be in the position they are now.......AFC Championship game.

And remember(to borrow a quote from Knute Rockne).."football is a game played with arms, legs and shoulders, but mostly from the NECK UP." Whichever team has their head in the game more...plays smarter football...will win. When you play that way, there is less of a chance you are going to commit penalties, esp. 15 yard ones, and hurt yourselves. I remember Woodley got a sack against Rivers in last weeks game that I thought for sure was going to be flagged for roughing the passer...it was not....but it could have been..Woodley swung him to the ground, and Lord knows I have seen less than that get called. That is one of the areas I am referring to, you want your team to play with intensity but at the same time they need to play SMART. It does no good if you sack the qb and then get 15 yards called against you. And don't even get me started on Colon.....I wish that guy could go one game and not get flagged! ( PLEASE Willie...for the love of all that is cream-filled......let this be THAT game!)

I see this being a close game..17-14 Pittsburgh.

We clipped their wings once, we clipped their wings twice, when we do it again, it will sure be nice! We KNOW the Steelers are gonna go for their 6th, yet this 'road kill' game is something I wouldn't miss. Three times to show them who is #1, back to Baltimore 'clipped' they are sure to run! Let the Ravens bring it on - if they can - 'cause the prediction's been made by this Steeler fan. Steelers all the way! GO BLACK AND GOLD!!

GodofGridiron
01-17-2009, 01:29 PM
I feel this game wont be as close at the other two. The reason i say this is because of the fatigue factor. If we can keep that defense of the Ravens on the field (that means getting modest gains on 1st down) we can wear them down. They already have tired legs from 16 straight weeks without a bye. We need to punish them and i think if we "NO HUDDLE" their asses, we can make some big plays.

On defense we KNOW Flacco likes to look for Mason.......he trusts him more than any other Raven wideout. So we have to look and prepare for that. But im expecting LeBeau and Tomlin to throw some exotic schemes at the rookie and make him try and beat us.

Steelers win 34-13 in a blowout.

The Ravens are Tired (no bye since Week 3). They were exhausted in the 4th quarter of both their games against Miami and Titans and look for more pounding for 3 quarters from the Steelers.

Big Ben has a chip on his shoulder and he has Payback in his mind. Trust me, it is personal for him.

Also, Willie will burn the edges and Ben will throw big to Holmes and Washington.

Surprise play of the game: Trick play of Hines Passing a deep TD pass to Sweed .....

I've been holding off making a prediction all week but I don't think this is going to be anywhere near as close as others think today.

Pittsburgh 31
Ratbirds 3

Flacco will be the difference in this game, he is going to look like the rookie he is by throwing at least 3 INT's (1 will be returned for a TD) costing the ratbirds the game. Everyone has been saying all week how calm he has been all year, but this is the AFCCG and I predict him caving to the pressure much like Ben did in 04 after his incredible rookie campaign.
