View Full Version : 22 Reasons why Browns Fans Hate the Steelers

Got this from another MB, thought I'd share it with yas:

1. The Steelers own the Browns. Since 1990 the Steelers have punked the Clowns 20 times while only losing 7. Like the schoolyard bully always beating up the nerd. I'd hate the Steelers too. ( I know what you're thinking - that silly 55-52 all time record we hear about. I will talk about that later in this post).

2. The Steelers own more than the Browns. They own the division. Since it's inception in 1970, the Steelers have been division champs 17 times. The Clowns are a distant second.

3. Pittsburgh has always been a rock solid organization from top to bottom. Two coaches in 35 years. Mr. Rooney would never move this team. Hate the Steelers all you wan't Clown fan, you know you would trade your situation for our's any day.

4. Pittsburgh drafts better. It's a fact that the Steelers always lose good players due to free agency, but still keep on winning. In fact out of the few good players the Browns have, Orpheus Roye is a Steeler draft pick!

5. Pittsburgh has been to the Super Bowl 5 times. The Clowns are on a short list of teams to have never made it to a Super Bowl. Except for Detroit, the other franchises that have never made it came into existance much later. Shame on you Cleveland.

6.The Pumpkinheads have made the playoffs only twice in the last fifteen years, both times knocked out by the Steelers. In each of those years the Steelers have won both regular season games. Must of been painful for you brown fans to lose to the Steelers 3 times in a season twice. I feel your pain. (and love it).

7.The Steelers have a better nickname. What bad things can you say about a steelworker. Even Cleveland has steelworkers. I've heard names like "Squeelers, "Stoolers", and "Pissburgh". Very cute, but not any correlation between those and the city/team. Whearas brown is the color of fecal matter, and just like the Brown's, it stinks, always did stink, and always will stink. The name ''Browns" is a perfect fit! That would mean that "Stooler" would be more suitable for a Brown, not a Steeler. The Pittsburgh Steelers vs. the Cleveland Stoolers sounds pretty good. How 'bout dem "Clowns". Does not that organization resemble a three ring circus? And "dogs" with all the negativity associated with them i.e. toilet water drinkers, butthole sniffers. pooper-scoopers, fleas, licking themselves, eating their own barf etc. Mind you "dogs" is a name you gave yourselves. Doesn't that remind us of all the negativity in that organization?

The Steelers have better uniforms. You always hear Brown fan whining about what color their uniform should be. Black is intimidating. According to Jay Mohr at SI.COM, he rated the Steelers the best and Browns the worst web page A New Zealand web page rated the Browns 3rd worst in the world! web page
A recent survey rated the Steelers in the top 5 while the Browns were the worst. web page
In the event that the Steelers should lose a game at least they'll look good !!

9. Cleveland Crosby, a 1980 draft pick of the Browns wore a Steeler jersey to a Browns team meeting!! I love you man!!

10. The Steelers have better fans. ESPN's MIke and Mike in the morning (11/19/05) named Pittsburgh the best football city in the country based on a USA TODAYarticle which stated that Pittsburgh had the highest TV ratings when the Steelers were on. The Browns did not even crack the top 10. Many current and ex-Steelers have said that playing away games sometimes feels like home with so many Steeler fans present. Steeler fans outnumbered Dallas fans 3 to 1 in the 1995 Super Bowl. In Pittsburgh I've only seen Pirate , Penguin, or Steeler garb. In Cleveland I've seen people in just about any pro team garb. So much for Cleveland's self proclaimed best fans in the world.

11. Did you know the Cleveland Lumberjacks were once a Pittsburgh farm team? That was degrading to those who hate Pittsburgh.

12. To this day during the football season, the national sports media always seem to bring up the great Steeler teams in discussion or in clips. They use the STEEL CURTAIN as a measuring stick when comparing todays defenses. Not much talk of the Browns is there?

13. The Steelers always have had an "enforcer", from Jack Lambert who would always slap around Brian Sipe, to Greg Lloyd, to Joey Porter who slapped around William Green and another Clown. Who exactly has been the Brown"s enforcer? Might have been some guy named turkey.

14. Ex-Steelers such as Terry Bradshaw, Merril Hodge, Rod Woodson, and Lynn Swann are currently part of the national media doing commentary or reporting. It must annoy Clown fans to be constantly reminded of Steeler greatness by seeing their mugs on TV year after year. Don't see many ex-Clowns.

15. The Pittsburgh area has produced more "big name" players than Cleveland, such as Joe Montana, Joe Namath, Johnny Unitas, Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, and Tony Dorsett. Sorry, Bernie wasn't a superstar and Jim Brown isn't from Cleveland just because his last name is Brown.

16. Pittsburgh has a big time college in the University of Pittsburgh. Cleveland State? Now thats funny.

17. The birthplace of pro football is not in Canton, which is near Cleveland, but in Latrobe, which is near Pittsburgh. The first pro game is said to have taken place between Latrobe and Jeanette. Other sources said the first pro game was between the Pittsburgh Athletic Club and the Allegheny Athletic association.

18. The Steelers have more representatives in the Hall of Fame than do the Browns. 17-15

19. After the Penguins won their first Stanley Cup, the USA today dubbed Pittsburgh as the "City of Champions". The article stated that the now defunct Pittsburgh Pipers won the very first ABA basketball championship. The Pitt panthers the NCAA championship, and even the Triangles, a pro tennis team won a championship. Don't think Cleveland will be a city of champions any time soon.

20. Browns fans were overcome with envy the day Bill Cowher became the Steeler head coach. They loved to see him ranting up and down the sidelines when he was a Browns special teams coach. Many Brown fans would love to have the jaw jutting, saliva spitting coach on their side.

21. Since 1970 the Steelers have compiled an amazing 26 winning seasons and only 9 losing. The Browns are a pathetic 13-17, which makes them one of the most losing franchises in the NFL. What a great tradition!! A storied franchise?? A sad story maybe.

22. OK here it is, Browns fans hate the Steelers because we, as does the rest of the country, don't give a rats rear end about the overwhelmingly lopsided, blowout of a 55-52 all time winning record the Browns have over the mighty Steelers. Wasn't there, don't care. No one in the sports media talks about the days of leather helmets, or before the legalization of the forward pass, nor NFL championships. No one cares about Jim Brown bulldozing over high school sized players. Any fan alive today would much prefer being a part of the Steelers post 1970 history than the pre 1970 Browns history. Many of who are alive actually experienced the Steeler super bowl years. This stat is about the only thing brown fans have to cling on. HEY! A new Cleveland nickname- the Cleveland Clingons!!

If you carefully reviewed the above 22 , the Browns hatered comes from sheer jealousy. It is a case of the haves and the have nots. The smack I've read from Browns fans toward the Steelers has been lame (you will observe this when you start reading replies to this post). You have no business trying to talk smack to Steeler fans because you have no ammunition. Your not even in our league. Focus your smack towards the Bengals or Ravens. You may have a chance there.
